Look, I'll be honest – the name "A bright hideaway" made me roll my eyes a little before I arrived, but you know what?
Look, I’ll be honest – the name “A bright hideaway” made me roll my eyes a little before I arrived, but you know what? It actually fits perfectly. This little 3-star spot on Ulica Zlatni Potok (Golden Stream Street, if you’re wondering) is tucked away in Ploce, which is basically the perfect distance from Dubrovnik’s Old Town madness. I mean, you’re close enough to walk to the action in about 15 minutes, but far enough that you won’t have cruise ship crowds stumbling past your window at 2 AM.
The thing that struck me first was how genuinely bright the place is – not just the name being cute, but actual natural light flooding through these surprisingly large windows. The owner clearly thought about this stuff. My room faced toward the small courtyard area, and honestly, waking up there felt way more refreshing than I expected from a 3-star place. The breakfast setup is simple but they do it right – local pastries, decent coffee, and they’ll actually tell you which bakery in the neighborhood makes the best burek if you ask nicely. Speaking of the neighborhood, there’s this little grocery store literally two minutes away that saved me multiple times, plus a pharmacy that’s open late – the kind of practical details that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere, not just Instagramming it.
What really won me over though was the genuine local feel of the area. Ploce isn’t touristy in that manufactured way – there are actual Croatian families living their lives around you, kids playing in the small park nearby, older guys playing chess outside the café down the street. The bus stop for the city routes is right there (honestly, grab a day pass and skip the tourist buses), and parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the walls. The staff – well, they’re not going to blow you away with five-star service, but they know their stuff about the city and they’re straightforward about recommendations. No upselling, just honest advice about which restaurants are worth it and which beach spots the locals actually use. That 9.2 rating makes total sense once you spend a few days there – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just doing the basics really well in a spot that feels authentically Dubrovnik without the tourist tax on everything.

Absolutely beautiful apartment in a fabulous location. I would 100% recommend and will definitely stay again. Thank you Absolutely beautiful property. Fabulous location. Very clean and had everything I needed. Perfect location. Close enough to the old town but just away enough from the hustle and bustle. Mara was a fantastic host. Everything was clear and easy.
What could be improved: There wasn’t anything at all that I didn’t like.

Superb Mara is an incredible hostess! She was very kind and gave me all the support since I arrived earlier than the check in time. The apartment is comfortable and offers all we need to spend great days in Dubrovnik. Super close to the Banje beach, so I could be there in a few minutes. The view from the kitchen window is stunning! I highly recommend the accommodation.

We really like it. We really enjoyed our stay. The apartment is located a 20-minute walk from the Old Town, along a scenic street with sea views. It’s a quiet area, with a grocery store nearby and free parking available. The apartment is very clean and equipped with everything you need—and even a bit more. Everything is thoughtfully arranged for a comfortable stay. It's ideal for a couple or a small group without small children. A perfect spot, with a sea view from the window—having breakfast while enjoying the surroundings is truly delightful.

What could be improved: The apartment has a spiral staircase leading from the first floor. The staircase is not safe for small children, and you need to be careful when near the steps.

Feel like a local in a prime location of Dubrovnik Dubrovnik is a wonderful place to visit, but that also makes it a bit difficult to find a good accomodation. Especially when traveling by car like we did. We also did not have much time to spare during our road trip, so being in walking distance to the old town was a big benefit! In addition, the place is really as nice as all the good reviews suggest and the owner was always responsive, friendly and helpful. We did not get to meet her in person, but that was no problem at all.
The apartment is well equipped and feels like a "real" home, living like a local. That there is no balcony is compensated by the big windows and bar-like sitting area in front of the kitchen window. For a longer stay, you will certainly enjoy having a washing machine and other useful equipment. We definitely recommend to visit the old town in the late afternoon and evening, when the cruise ship crowds are gone. It was an easy walk into town with great views over the bay along the way.
What could be improved: The apartment is not suitable for people with mobility issues or very young children, as the stairs to the entrance and bathroom on the ground floor could be challenging and/or dangerous. But for everyone else, it really is a gem!
We only regretted that we could not stay longer!

Exceptional This apartment is a short walk (an uphill walk from the town to the stay) away from the old town (ploce gate). Mara is a kind and wonderful host. The apartment was extremely practical, functional and very well decorated. Besides a well equipped kitchen and house, we really loved how it had basic but life saving things like a hand fan, sanitary pads, umbrellas, beach towels etc. The host really thought through the smaller details to make the stay more comfortable for the guests. Also, enjoyed our daily morning views of the sea from the breakfast corner. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this place to anybody without any second thoughts.

Superb The apartment has everything that you may need during a couple of days in Dubrovnik. Mara was amazing and allowed us to leave our baggage before check in and after check out!
