You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from the Adriatic Apartment when I first pulled up to Gorica Sv Vlaha 18 – I mean, it’s tucked away in this quiet residential street in Lapad, and honestly, the building looks pretty unassuming from the outside. But here’s the thing about Dubrovnik: sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t scream “tourist accommodation” from every window.

The apartment itself is exactly what you’d want if you’re actually planning to spend more than a night or two here. It’s got that lived-in feeling – not fancy, but genuinely comfortable in a way that makes you want to kick off your shoes and stay awhile. The kitchen actually works (I made coffee every morning and even attempted some pasta one evening), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. What really got me though was stepping onto the balcony in the morning – you catch these glimpses of the Adriatic between the buildings, and the whole neighborhood just feels… well, like a neighborhood. You’ll hear kids playing in the courtyard below, neighbors chatting, that sort of authentic Croatian daily life that you miss when you’re staying right in the thick of the tourist zone.

Lapad is honestly one of those areas that grows on you. Sure, you’re about a 15-minute bus ride from the Old Town (the buses run pretty regularly, and locals are surprisingly helpful if you look confused at the stop), but that distance is actually a blessing by July and August when the historic center becomes this sweaty mass of cruise ship crowds. After spending your day dodging selfie sticks on the city walls, coming back to this quieter side of town feels like exhaling. There’s a decent little market just a few streets over where you can grab fresh bread and those incredible Croatian tomatoes, and the Lapad Bay is close enough for an evening walk when you need to decompress. The owner – nice guy, actually met me at the apartment for check-in – mentioned that most guests end up extending their stay, and I can see why. It’s got that 9.3 rating for a reason, and it’s not because of fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy decor. It’s because sometimes what you really want is a place that feels like temporary home base rather than a hotel room, somewhere you can actually live a bit like a local instead of just passing through.

  Appt great, good value…great location in the middle of all the main areas.
  
  What could be improved: Minor issue but quite a bit of late night noise from Basketball court behind appt…didnt spoil a great holiday expereince…highly recommend to anyone!!

  Host was lovely, helped in any possible way and gave us good recommendations.
  Apartament is nice with all facilities listed, we loved the terrace to relax. Good location if you have a car – so we could park for free on the street. Have a supermarket close by (2-5min walk). Close to Bellevue beach (5-10min walk), and 20min walk to old town.
  
  What could be improved: Location is 20min walk to the old town – but like mentioned if you have a car, very few places in Dubrovnik have free parking.

  Lovely apartment close to the old town but in a quiet area. Communication with the owner was smooth and easy in every way. The apartment was clean and there were enough towels. The washing machine was also a plus, when it was hot outside, it was lovely to wash clothes every now and then. A lot of fruit and drinking water had been left for us, which was very lovely, thank you for that! There were also a lot of basic food supplies in the apartment. The best feature of the apartment is definitely the large terrace with a sea view.
  
  What could be improved: It was a bit difficult to find the right address as there were no house numbers visible on the street.

  Lovely hosts, very accomodating! Good location in that it’s in a quieter area, about a 20 minute walk to the old town. Lovely facilities, have washing powder, iron etc lots of small things that make it great! Nice balcony with a sea view!

  The host was waiting for us to collect the key and show us around the apartment.
  Bed room is a little small with a child but it is good for 2-3 days counting on the outdoor area which is quite nice.
  Washing machine and soap at your disposal.
  Good location and by car you can easily park it for free. Walking distance to the old city was around 25-30 minutes with a stroller.

  What could be improved: The bedroom furnitures are not placed properly. The single bed that is kept on the leg side of the double bed is unnecessary. It restricts free movement inside the bedroom.

  The accommodation was very clean and had everything we needed. The location was about a 15/20 minute walk from the Old Town, which was perfect for us – it's a well-trodden path, but if you need it, any bus will take you to the old town. We were entitled to a free parking space, which in Dubrovnik is almost impossible to get. The host also gave us some recommendations for very good beaches and restaurants. The terrace of the house is simply magnificent.
  There were a few mosquitoes, but that's something we've seen all over Croatia, and not just here.
  Overall I loved it and if I come back I will definitely book again
