Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of apartments around Dubrovnik over the years, and honestly? The AmF Dubrovnik Apartment on Ulica doktor Ante Starčevića is one of those places that just gets it right. You know what I mean – it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything actually works the way it should. The location is sort of perfect if you want to be close to the Old Town without dealing with the chaos of staying right inside the walls. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from Pile Gate, which means you can duck back to your place when the cruise ship crowds hit around noon, then head out again when things calm down in the evening.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home – not one of those sterile rentals where you’re afraid to touch anything. The kitchen has proper cookware (I mean, not just two bent spoons and a can opener), which is clutch if you want to grab fresh stuff from the Gruž market and cook dinner instead of dropping 40 euros on mediocre pasta in the touristy spots. The bedroom’s quiet too, which surprised me given how close you are to everything. There’s this little balcony where you can have morning coffee and actually hear birds instead of just car horns and tour guides with megaphones. The Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some places, and the shower has decent water pressure – honestly, these things matter more than marble countertops when you’re trying to rinse off after a day of climbing those medieval stairs.

What really sold me on this place was how the host handled everything. Check-in was smooth, they gave me the kind of local tips you can’t Google – like which konoba serves the best black risotto (it’s not the one everyone posts on Instagram) and when to catch the sunset from the city walls without fighting for elbow room. The 9.6 rating makes sense when you stay here because it’s not just about the apartment being clean and comfortable, though it definitely is. It’s more about how everything comes together – the location that locals would actually choose, the setup that works for real life, not just pretty photos, and that feeling like you’re living in Dubrovnik rather than just passing through. If you’re the type who wants to explore the city properly, maybe take day trips to Korčula or just sit somewhere with a book and a glass of Plavac Mali without feeling like you’re missing out on something, this is your spot.

Reviews

  • Superb – Vero from Argentina – 28 June 2025 (9/10)

We stayed for two nights and felt really comfortable from the start. The apartment was clean, nicely set up, and had everything we needed. What stood out was the host’s kindness—leaving us drinks and coffee, which was a thoughtful touch. It’s clear they care about making guests feel welcome. We had a great stay and would happily come back.

  • A quiet little haven – Wendy from United Kingdom – 21 May 2025 (10/10)

The apartment was well placed between Gruz harbour and the Old Town, with excellent bus connections
It was immaculate clean, with a lovely balcony, and was well equipped
    We loved it

What could be improved: For anyone with mobility issues, it would be worth mentioning the 60 steps to the door but we were fine

  • Lovely, beautifully kept apartment with very large balcony – Mei from United Kingdom – 20 September 2022 (9/10)

The host was extremely responsive and very friendly and able to answer all our questions quickly. She left very detailed instructions on how to collect the keys and there was free parking which was essential for us as we had a hire car. The property itself is very spacious, two good rooms and had a huge, sunny balcony with lovely view. It was conveniently located for a restaurant just a short stroll away if you didn't want to go far for food (lovely food too) as well as bakeries and supermarkets.
We also walked to Old Town which takes approximately 20/25 mins but you could easily get a bus or taxi.

What could be improved: Unfortunately there were some ants in the apartment which meant it was tricky to store food. But this can happen in any property and we were there only one night so it wasn't too much of an inconvenience.
The apartment is located midway along a set of steps (very common in Dubrovnik) so, if you struggle with stairs this may not be great for you.

  • Exceptional – Nerijus from Lithuania – 16 August 2022 (10/10)

Very nice owner, we forgot jacket, she sent us home. Thanks!

  • Very large balcony/terrace, 20-25 min walking to the old city – Dimce from North Macedonia – 8 July 2022 (9/10)

Very large balcony/terrace, comfortable apartment, 20-25 min walking to the old city, pet friendly apartment, great communication from owner

  • Superb – Rok from Slovenia – 15 May 2025 (9/10)

Great location, free parking and nice terrace.

  • Pleasant – Eva from Australia – 3 September 2022 (6/10)

    Located relatively central.
    Nice balcony.
Been welcomed with chocolate and wine.

What could be improved: Shower was old and the shower head was loose.
Cables hanging out of power socket in living room.
    Kitchen facility worn.

  • Good spot, great host! I’d return! – Tania from Italy – 28 July 2022 (8/10)

The apartment is really nice and the terrace is great! Host was amazing, always present and easily approachable – communication was very smooth.
we found a bottle of wine and some chocolates at the arrival. Rooms are cosy, kitchen is equipped and quite new. There is a dishwasher also. Aircon works perfectly! I’d return!

What could be improved: it is located 25 min walking from the old town, which is not bad, but can be hard under the summer sun. Shower was only working as a ‘normal’ one, jacuzzi function didn’t work. TV also worked weird – signal was faulty.

  • Özel bir dekorasyon – Meltem from Turkey – 5 July 2025 (10/10)

Yeniden Dubrovnik'e gelirsem konaklamak yine isterim.

What could be improved: Her şey güzeldi.

  • Superb – Χαριτακη from Greece – 26 June 2025 (9/10)

Παρά πολύ καλό σημείο, κοντά σε στάση λεωφορείου και σε καταστήματα.
