Fantastic location while also being tucked away in a very peaceful spot. There are a lot of stairs to get up to the apartment but that seems pretty characteristic of the old town. Beds very comfortable. Especially loved the little garden.

First Impressions
Walking through the ancient stone streets of Dubrovnik’s Old Town to reach Ani Apartment honestly feels like stepping into a movie set — you know, the kind where every corner looks impossibly photogenic. This four-star property sits right on Ulica Svetog Šimuna, which means you’re literally in the heart of everything that matters. I mean, when couples are rating the location 9.6 out of 10, you know there’s something special about where you’ll be staying.
The Perfect Old Town Spot
What really struck me about this place is how it manages to be central without feeling touristy — if that makes sense. You’re steps away from the main Stradun (that’s the marble-paved main street), but tucked into one of those quieter side streets where locals actually live. The location score of 9.5 isn’t just numbers on a screen — it’s because you can walk to Rector’s Palace in two minutes, grab morning coffee at one of the hidden cafés, and still escape the cruise ship crowds when you need to. Plus, the staff responds quickly to questions, which honestly saved me when I couldn’t figure out the Old Town’s confusing street layout on my first night.
The Apartment Experience
The apartment itself feels more like staying in a friend’s well-appointed place than a typical hotel room. There’s this nice balance between modern comfort and respecting the historic building it’s housed in — you’ll see what I mean when you notice how they’ve worked around the original stone walls. The space actually gives you room to spread out, which is pretty rare in Old Town properties where every square meter costs a fortune. Having a proper kitchen means you can store those Croatian wines you’ll inevitably buy at the morning market, or just make coffee without hunting for an open café at 7 AM.
Living Like a Local
Here’s what I didn’t expect — staying here actually changes how you experience Dubrovnik. Instead of rushing back to some hotel outside the walls before the gates close (well, they don’t actually close anymore, but you get the idea), you’re already home. You can wander the ramparts at sunset when the day-trippers have left, or grab dinner at that tiny restaurant around the corner that locals frequent. The morning light hitting the limestone buildings from your window is something you just can’t get from properties outside the Old Town walls.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.1 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed here — it’s the kind of place that gets the details right without making a big show of it. The combination of being genuinely central (not “walking distance” central, but actually-in-the-middle central) with having space to breathe is pretty rare in Dubrovnik. You’re not just visiting the Old Town, you’re temporarily living in it, which honestly transforms the whole experience. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about having your own little corner of this UNESCO World Heritage site, even if it’s just for a few nights.

What Our Guests Say
After a brilliant first stay, brilliant second stay: what makes it brilliant is personalized, service and care. The location is so central and the advantage of staying here is that you have the city to yourself first and last thing of the day when crowds leave.
What could be improved: Our stay was too short:)
Beautiful court yard in a quite part of the old town. Close enough to easily access all the beautiful areas Dubrovnik old town had to offer.
Very homely apartment with a charming outdoor area, very clean, comfortable, air-conditioned, hot shower, excellent location by the Jesuit “GOT Shame” Steps with a lovely bakery, fruit market and supermarket few steps away.
Robert was a fantastic host and went above and beyond on several occasions. Extremely responsive, professional and very kind ! Thank you so much, it made our stay even better !
Very nice location and easy to access on foot from Pile Gate. Spacious apartment for two with all the facilities you need during your stay. Walking distance to main sightseeing points and good restaurants. The owner gave clear instructions for the check-in and he was responsive during our stay. A/C available, which is a must if you’ll stay during summertime. We recommend staying at this place.
What could be improved: You can hear the neighbours walking during the night, so it’s not absolutely quiet inside apartment. We could have appreciated if there could be more basic supplies such as water, instant coffee, tea left in the apartment at least for the first day.
The location, how cool it stayed in the heat
Great location. Clean. Owner very responsive to messages. Even though it’s only a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of the old town, it was very peaceful within the apartment and terrace. The terrace was a lovely spot to have breakfast.
Location was great...Apartment had everything we needed and very comfortable Host was very helpful.....Courtyard was beautuful perfect place to sit and relax...Would recommend this apoartment....
What could be improved: Music school next door can get a bit much but not a reason to not stay there its still a nice apartment ...
The apartment was fantastic - very cozy inside with upstairs bedroom and stairs are steep but manageable- the courtyard outside was a bonus so nice to sit out there day or night. Very clean and comfortable and hosts were amazing with local recommendations and suggestions and always trying to help us out.
What could be improved: Stairs - however all disclosed and fully aware and you cannot stay anywhere in old town without having to go up some stairs- if you have heavy bags or a lot then do the porterage service. Once there though WHAT A LOCATION!!
Location, garden
What could be improved: Staircase to bedroom is open with no hand rails. Looks nice but kind of tricky to use. Kitchen Cupboards require tiny fingers to open them!
