Apartman Dominus Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to the fourth floor of a centuries-old building in Dubrovnik’s Old Town, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from Apartman Dominus. But honestly, the moment I stepped inside, I knew this place was something special. The apartment sits right on Od Domina street — and I mean right in the thick of everything that makes Dubrovnik magical. You’re literally surrounded by limestone walls that have been standing since the medieval times, with the sound of footsteps echoing off ancient stones just outside your window.
The Heart of Old Town
What struck me most was how perfectly positioned this place is. I mean, you step out the front door and you’re already on the Stradun — Dubrovnik’s main pedestrian street — within maybe thirty seconds. The morning coffee ritual became this lovely walk to nearby cafés where locals actually hang out, not just tourist traps. And those couples who rated the location a perfect 10? They absolutely know what they’re talking about. There’s something incredibly romantic about falling asleep to the gentle murmur of evening conversations drifting up from the cobblestones below.
Living Like a Local
The room itself feels more like staying in a friend’s well-appointed city pad than a typical hotel. The space is thoughtfully designed — not cramped like some Old Town accommodations can be — with modern touches that somehow don’t clash with the historic setting. I actually spent quite a bit of time just sitting by the window, watching the daily rhythm of the neighborhood unfold. You know what’s nice? Having a proper kitchen means you can grab fresh produce from the morning market (literally a two-minute walk) and prepare simple meals when you don’t feel like dining out every single night.
The Dubrovnik Experience
What really sets this place apart is how it connects you to the real Dubrovnik experience. Sure, you’re steps away from all the major sights — the city walls, Rector’s Palace, the cathedral — but you’re also living where actual residents go about their daily lives. I’d often hear neighbors chatting in Croatian as they headed to work, or catch the scent of someone’s dinner cooking nearby. It’s that authentic slice of life that you just can’t get from hotels in the newer parts of town or outside the walls.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.8 rating honestly makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. The combination of being in the absolute center of everything while still feeling like you have your own private retreat is pretty remarkable. Plus, there’s something satisfying about telling people you’re staying \”in the Old Town\” and actually meaning it — not in some hotel that’s technically inside the walls but feels disconnected from the neighborhood’s pulse. Whether you’re planning romantic evening strolls along the ramparts or just want to stumble home after dinner without worrying about transportation, Apartman Dominus puts you exactly where you want to be.

A very comfortable stay in the heart of the old town with an incredibly kind host. – Peter from United Kingdom – 17 June 2025 (10/10)
The property owner, Jerko, was incredibly helpful before and during our stay, meeting us at the gate into the old city and taking us to the property and showing us around, and giving us lots of recommendations for places to eat and visit. The apartment is incredible, right in the heart of the old town not far off the main street, very tastefully renovated and relatively quiet for its location. We had a very comfortable stay.
What could be improved: Not a problem for us, but there are 4 flights of stairs up to the apartment, so that's something to be aware of if you have any mobility issues.Great warm welcome and tips, and a beautifully restored/decorated, airy and spacious apartment right in the Old Town – Una from Ireland – 7 June 2025 (10/10)
Beautiful restoration, and a lovely private space right in the center of town. A warm welcome, great comfortable bed, big airy bathroom, really well equipped kitchen, with teas/coffee biscuits. Dubrovnik old town on the doorstep, and we had a great dinner recommendation from Jerko also.
Relaxing holiday including excellent food and trip experiences in the historical surroundings – Jorma from Finland – 1 June 2025 (10/10)
Our host was very flexible with the check-in and helped with the luggage up to the top floor. We got good instructions on the flat, keys, doors, city maps etc. And in addition a WhatsApp info package on some good restaurant recommendations etc. That gave a good start for the first visit in Dubrovnik 😎.
The location in the Old Town was also superb: this is very close to the Pile Gate and car transportation. And the flat is located just before the very steep stairs towards the Southern city wall.
What could be improved: Old Town layout includes endless number of stairs…Exceptional – Julia from Australia – 27 May 2025 (10/10)
Great location, very bright and airy apartment which was well equipped and comfortable. The host was awesome, amazing communication when we needed a couple of answers.
Highly recommend this apartment.

The location was excellent, right in the Old Town and close to the Pile city gate. Our host, Jerko, contacted us to arrange to meet us at the Pile gate, walked us to the apartment and helped us carry our luggage up the stairs to the apartment. He gave us his number and responded quickly to any questions we had. The apartment has charming character with modern appliances including washing machine. There were some welcoming treats—beer, juice, snacks for our arrival.
