Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and honestly? Apartman Dominus is one of those finds that makes you feel like you cracked some kind of code. It’s tucked away on Od Domina street – you know, that narrow stone passage that curves up from the main drag where all the tourists are shuffling around with their maps out. Fourth floor means you’re getting a workout (no elevator, obviously – this is Old Town we’re talking about), but I mean, after a day of walking those polished limestone streets, a few extra stairs won’t kill you.
What actually surprised me was how quiet it gets up there. You’re literally in the heart of everything – I could hear the morning vendors setting up in the square, and the scent of fresh bread from the bakery down the street would drift up through the windows – but once you close those thick stone walls around you, it’s like the city just… settles. The apartment itself has that perfect balance of old-world charm without feeling like you’re sleeping in a museum. The owner clearly knows what travelers actually need (decent WiFi, proper shower pressure, places to hang wet clothes after beach days) versus what looks good in photos. There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that’s more about comfort than Instagram moments, you know?
The location thing is hard to explain without sounding like every other travel write-up, but here’s what I mean – you can stumble out the door and be at Onofrio’s Fountain in two minutes, or duck down to that little wine bar near Rector’s Palace without consulting Google Maps every five seconds. When the cruise ship crowds descend around midday, you can actually retreat upstairs and watch the chaos from above, then head back out when things calm down in the evening. I spent a lot of time on that narrow balcony with morning coffee, just watching the city wake up – shopkeepers hosing down their storefronts, locals cutting through the alleys before the tourist tide rolls in. It’s those small moments that remind you why Dubrovnik has been enchanting people for centuries, long before it became a Game of Thrones backdrop. That 9.8 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen – it’s the kind of place that makes you understand why some people keep coming back to the same spot year after year, even when there’s a whole world to explore.

A very comfortable stay in the heart of the old town with an incredibly kind host. – Peter from United Kingdom – 17 June 2025 (10/10)
The property owner, Jerko, was incredibly helpful before and during our stay, meeting us at the gate into the old city and taking us to the property and showing us around, and giving us lots of recommendations for places to eat and visit. The apartment is incredible, right in the heart of the old town not far off the main street, very tastefully renovated and relatively quiet for its location. We had a very comfortable stay.
What could be improved: Not a problem for us, but there are 4 flights of stairs up to the apartment, so that's something to be aware of if you have any mobility issues.Great warm welcome and tips, and a beautifully restored/decorated, airy and spacious apartment right in the Old Town – Una from Ireland – 7 June 2025 (10/10)
Beautiful restoration, and a lovely private space right in the center of town. A warm welcome, great comfortable bed, big airy bathroom, really well equipped kitchen, with teas/coffee biscuits. Dubrovnik old town on the doorstep, and we had a great dinner recommendation from Jerko also.
Relaxing holiday including excellent food and trip experiences in the historical surroundings – Jorma from Finland – 1 June 2025 (10/10)
Our host was very flexible with the check-in and helped with the luggage up to the top floor. We got good instructions on the flat, keys, doors, city maps etc. And in addition a WhatsApp info package on some good restaurant recommendations etc. That gave a good start for the first visit in Dubrovnik 😎.
The location in the Old Town was also superb: this is very close to the Pile Gate and car transportation. And the flat is located just before the very steep stairs towards the Southern city wall.
What could be improved: Old Town layout includes endless number of stairs…Exceptional – Julia from Australia – 27 May 2025 (10/10)
Great location, very bright and airy apartment which was well equipped and comfortable. The host was awesome, amazing communication when we needed a couple of answers.
Highly recommend this apartment.

The location was excellent, right in the Old Town and close to the Pile city gate. Our host, Jerko, contacted us to arrange to meet us at the Pile gate, walked us to the apartment and helped us carry our luggage up the stairs to the apartment. He gave us his number and responded quickly to any questions we had. The apartment has charming character with modern appliances including washing machine. There were some welcoming treats—beer, juice, snacks for our arrival.
