Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Apartmani Nika Marangun? The street itself – Ulica Iva Vojnovića is one of those quiet residential roads in Lapad where you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of cruise ship announcements. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to the main Lapad promenade in maybe ten minutes, but far enough back that you won’t have tour groups stomping past your window at 7 AM.

The apartments themselves are honestly better than I expected for a 4-star place. The owner clearly gets that travelers want space to spread out – these aren’t those cramped hotel rooms where you’re living out of a suitcase. There’s actually room for your stuff, and the kitchenettes are properly equipped (not just a mini-fridge and a prayer). The whole setup feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel, which I actually prefer when I’m in Dubrovnik for more than a couple nights. The balconies are decent too – not huge, but you can sit out there with morning coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up. Speaking of which, parking is way easier here than anywhere closer to Old Town, and honestly, that’s worth its weight in gold during summer months.

What really sold me on this place though is how the locals treat it. You’ll see Croatian families choosing to stay here when they visit Dubrovnik, which tells you everything you need to know. The beach at Lapad Bay is about a fifteen-minute walk downhill (emphasis on downhill – the walk back up is… well, it’s a walk back up), and it’s where Dubrovnik people actually go swimming instead of the tourist beaches. The whole Lapad peninsula has this relaxed vibe that’s completely different from the Old Town madness. There’s a decent grocery store called Konzum about five minutes away, and honestly, being able to grab fresh bread and local cheese for breakfast instead of paying hotel prices makes a huge difference. The 8.3 rating makes sense – it’s not luxury, but it’s solid and comfortable with that lived-in feeling that makes you want to stay longer. Plus, the bus stop for the Old Town is right there when you do want to dive into the tourist stuff, but you can retreat back to actual quiet when you’re done.

Reviews

  • Catherine from Spain – 22 September 2024 (8/10)

The apartment is really comfortable and 5 minutes away from the beach. It’s completely equiped and in front there is a supermarket. We would come back!

What could be improved: There wasn’t much natural light and no view.

  • Dimitra from Greece – 1 September 2024 (8/10)

Very good host. Bigger than I thought

What could be improved: No air condition in bedroom

  • One27 from United Arab Emirates – 18 August 2024 (9/10)

Good host, apartment with private parking, within walking distance to old town, near to convenience store for daily groceries, facilities meet expectations.

What could be improved: Lift not working, my apartment didn't have any view only walls.

  • Ewelina from Germany – 3 August 2024 (9/10)

    Excellent location and lovely host

    What could be improved: –

  • Patricia from United States – 19 May 2025 (8/10)

    Convenient

What could be improved: Waited 40 minutes for help with washer, 1/2 for toilet paper. Lock did not seem secure. It is in a parking garage under a restaurant

  • Nina from Slovenia – 23 October 2024 (9/10)

The location is great, host is very nice and there is a lot of facilities available.

What could be improved: There is no such thing.

  • Ana from Spain – 11 September 2024 (9/10)

Location was perfect, 20 min walking to the old town. The guy was nice, explained us everything we should know about where the supermarket was, the beach, the bus, the old town direction.
Room was big, the cooker had all the menage for cooking. Washing machine in the bathroom which after a week traveling around was great.
Bed was quite big for both of us, we were at the same level of reception.
Free parking, the place has its own parking, which was relieving as it is impossible to park in Dubrovnik without paying fares.

What could be improved: Detachable clothesline, we didn't know if it was broken as we doubted to ensamble it outside the window. We put it on top of both windows to have our clothes dried out. Not a big deal actually…

  • William from Hong Kong – 20 July 2024 (8/10)

Convenient location. Well equipped but no microwave. Host was responsive and helpful.

What could be improved: A little run down and dishes needed cleaning before use. Aircon only in the living room and hard to cook the separate bedroom. Light from the living room goes through frosted glass into bedroom so could do with a curtain for those who want darkness when sleeping.

  • Hemanathan from Finland – 23 April 2025 (9/10)

Good and very kind host .. Thanks to Christin who helped us lot during the short stay ..

What could be improved: Not really but the ground floor and no lift acess
