You’re about a 15-minute walk to the old city walls (maybe 20 if you’re taking your time), but here’s the thing – you’re genuinely close to three different beaches, and they’re all completely different vibes. There’s this small pebble beach that locals seem to prefer, probably because it doesn’t get the cruise ship crowds, then a larger sandy stretch that’s perfect if you’ve got kids, and honestly, the third one is sort of tucked away behind some rocks. I stumbled across it on my second day and it became my go-to spot for morning coffee. The apartment’s balcony actually overlooks the water – not a tiny sliver view, but proper sea views where you can watch the ferries heading to the islands.

Inside, it’s clear someone actually lives in Dubrovnik and knows what visitors need. The kitchen has real cooking equipment (not those sad vacation rental setups with one dull knife), there’s excellent air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a freight train, and the Wi-Fi is fast enough for video calls. The bathroom’s modern, shower pressure is solid, and there are enough towels for a week-long stay. What I really appreciated were the small touches – local restaurant recommendations written on actual paper and tucked into a drawer, extra beach towels without having to ask, and blackout curtains that actually block the early morning sun. The building’s quiet too, which surprised me given how close you are to everything. I mean, you’ll hear some street noise during the day, but nothing that kept me up at night. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no standing around a hotel lobby, just met the owner at the apartment, got the keys, and she pointed out the best walking route to Pile Gate. Honestly, for a 4-star place with a perfect rating, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for without any of the pretentious hotel nonsense.
