I mean, you’re close enough to hear the distant hum of the Old Town (maybe a 10-minute walk downhill), but far enough up that you actually get some peace when those cruise ship crowds descend. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Croatian apartment feel – not flashy, but you can tell Angela (and yes, there really is an Angela) actually cares about the details that matter.

The apartment feels like staying at a friend’s place who happens to have really good taste. Everything’s spotless, and I’m talking about the kind of clean where you’re not afraid to walk barefoot on the tiles. The kitchen’s properly stocked – not just for show – and there’s this lovely little balcony where you can sit with your morning coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up. What I really appreciated was the air conditioning that actually works (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case in Dubrovnik summers) and the fact that the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes. Angela left these handwritten notes about local bakeries and where to catch the bus, which honestly helped more than any guidebook. The shower has proper water pressure too – again, something you learn to never take for granted in old European cities.

Here’s the thing about this location that the booking sites won’t tell you: you’re perfectly positioned to avoid the tourist traps but still hit everything you want to see. That little grocery store on the corner? It’s where locals actually shop, and the lady there will point you toward the best produce. The walk to Pile Gate takes about eight minutes if you’re not rushing, but here’s the insider tip – take the small path through the residential area instead of the main road, especially in the evening when it’s all lit up. Parking can be a bit tricky (welcome to Dubrovnik), but Angela knows the neighborhood spots that won’t cost you a fortune. I stayed here in late September, and honestly, it felt like having a proper home base while exploring the city. The 9.4 rating makes total sense – it’s not trying to be some fancy boutique hotel, but it delivers exactly what you need with this genuine warmth that’s becoming harder to find. If you’re the type who values comfort and authenticity over lobby chandeliers, this place gets it right.

  Spacious, comfortable apartment with a small but functional kitchen. An easy walk to the old town and to the beach. The view from the balcony is gorgeous, perfect spot to enjoy the sunset. Hosts are super kind and helpful! There were snacks and drinks on the table when I arrived and Vlado was kind enough to print my bus ticket out for me.

  We mostly interacted with Vladimir, who could not have been more helpful, both in giving lifts and advice – eg good cheap local restaurants.

  Very responsive host. Nice view of new port from balcony. Big bedroom which could easily accommodate 4 adults. Kind host which allowed us to leave our bags behind after check out whilst we roam the city before our flight in the evening.

  Parking in the street is impossible but the host had kept a parking place for me in front of the building. The Angela and Vlado receive us worm hospitality with watermelon and cold bear for the welcome, even first night Vlado take us down to the old city. Next day we are using UBER that is half price of taxi. There ware a STUDENAC market nearby for any grocery shopping. Balcony view on the Dubrovnik port and visiting cruisers. I am recommending visit to island Lokrum, there is regular boat line from the old town port just 20 min sailing, with beach, monastery visit and locations of filming Games of the Tronnes.

  The house was very clean.The view of the cost and sea from the balcony was beautiful and scenic, but the parking was a little difficult however still manageable .The owner was very friendly and helpful.

  Very cozy apartment and it is only 30 minutes walking distance to Dubrovnik old town. Great view from the balkony. Our host arranged a free parking area for us which is important because parking is the biggest problem in Dubrovnik. We arrived around 11 PM and there was no open supermarket at that hour. Owner shared his wine with us. Strongly recommended place
