Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Dubrovnik over the years, and Apartment Antej honestly surprised me in the best way. You know what struck me first? You’re sitting there with your morning coffee looking out over the city, and you can see the old town walls in the distance without being right in the middle of all that tourist chaos. It’s far enough away that you’re not hearing cruise ship announcements at 7 AM, but close enough that you can walk to Stradun in about fifteen minutes if you’re feeling ambitious.

The apartment itself is pretty much what you’d expect from a solid three-star place – nothing fancy, but everything works and it’s clean. The bedroom is a decent size, and honestly, the bed was more comfortable than I was expecting. I mean, you’re not getting luxury linens or anything, but I slept well. The kitchen is small but functional – I made pasta one night and managed just fine, though the pots are a bit worn. What I really appreciated was the little touches that show someone actually thought about guests staying here: good lighting by the bed for reading, enough outlets for charging your phone, hooks in the bathroom for towels. Small stuff, but it matters when you’re living somewhere for a few days.

The location is where this place really shines, though. You’re in a residential area where actual Dubrovnik people live, which means there’s a bakery around the corner that opens early (the burek is excellent, by the way), and you can grab groceries without paying tourist prices. The building itself is typical Croatian apartment block – nothing Instagram-worthy, but solid and quiet. I was there in July and barely heard any noise from neighbors, which is saying something. Parking was easier than I expected too – there’s street parking nearby, and the owner gave me pretty clear directions about where to find spots. Check-in was smooth, though make sure you communicate your arrival time because it’s not like a hotel with 24-hour reception. The owner speaks good English and was actually helpful with restaurant recommendations, not just the usual tourist trap suggestions either. For the price point, especially during high season, you’re getting good value – it’s clean, comfortable, and gives you a real sense of staying in Dubrovnik rather than just visiting it.
