You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and Apartment Art honestly surprised me. It’s tucked away on Zagrebačka Street – which, if you’re not familiar with the area, is this quiet residential road that runs parallel to the main tourist drag but feels worlds away from all that chaos. The building itself has this understated elegance that immediately made me think, “okay, someone actually cares about this place.”

The apartment I stayed in was… well, let me put it this way: it’s called “Art” for a reason, and they’re not being pretentious about it. There are these carefully chosen pieces throughout – nothing flashy, just thoughtful touches that make you feel like you’re staying in someone’s well-curated home rather than a rental. The kitchen was actually functional (I mean, you can cook a proper meal here, not just heat up leftovers), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that I honestly didn’t want to get out of. What really got me though was the attention to details – good coffee in the cupboard, proper hangers in the closet, and the Wi-Fi actually worked from every corner of the place.

Here’s the thing about the location that most reviews won’t tell you: you’re about a 12-minute walk to Pile Gate, which is the main entrance to the Old Town, but you’re positioned in this sweet spot where you can actually sleep at night. I stayed here in July (yeah, peak season madness), and while the historic center was absolutely swarming with cruise ship crowds during the day, Zagrebačka Street stayed peaceful. You can hear the occasional car, but it’s nothing compared to the late-night revelry that echoes through the old stone streets. Plus, there’s this little bakery about three doors down that opens at 6 AM – the smell of fresh bread drifting through the windows was honestly the best alarm clock. The host was responsive without being intrusive, and check-in was smooth even though I arrived later than planned due to a delayed flight from Zagreb. That 9.7 rating? Yeah, I get it. It’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it’s exactly what you want when you’re exploring a place like Dubrovnik – comfortable, authentic, and positioned so you can actually experience the city like a temporary local rather than just another tourist rushing between photo ops.

  The location was perfect. super close to old town, in between some of the best beaches, store and bakery across the street, and a kiddie park nearby. Fir those that don’t want to lug their suitcases up and down steps this place is perfect.

  Location is perfect – the apartment is outside the old town but within easy walking distance. I stayed with my 80 year old parents who managed the two different methods of getting to the apartment fine – one has lots of steps but only takes 7 mins to get to Pile Gate. The other flat route takes slightly longer but is easier. Both were fine with no problems.
  Divo was a fantastic host who met us on arrival to welcome us, hand over the keys and give us some helpful info on Dubrovnik. The apartment (size and decor) is fabulous and the views are amazing – I can't wait to return. Thanks so much for the memorable stay!
  
  What could be improved: Everything was superb. The only minor suggestion is to have a few more hooks in the main bedroom to hang clothes or towels. Perhaps a chest of drawers too.

  Very large apartment with views of the Fort and part of the Old Town. Short walk to town and across the street from a supermarket and bakery. Great air conditioning. Most of all, Divo the owner was absolutely wonderful. Super helpful in every way and one day when my wife was not feeling well he even offered to go to the Pharmacy for us! I highly recommend this property!

  Appartamento molto molto grande, mansardato con molte finestre ed una vista stupenda sulla fortezza e sul mare. Il proprietario gentilissimo e simpaticissimo! Veramente top!

  Très grand appartement avec une superbe vue sur Dubrovnik et la mer. Jolie décoration et tout équipé. Très agréable de prendre l’apéro le soir face à la mer depuis le salon. Facile d’accès par la route juste à côté de l’arrêt du bus 8 venant du port ou parking public pas loin non plus, sans descendre de marche. L’accès et le retour depuis la vielle ville se mérite un peu plusieurs ruelles avec des escaliers pour accéder à la porte Pile ou accès plus simple en rentrant par la porte Buza. Permet de profiter de la ville tout en étant un peu en dehors de l’agitation touristique. Accueil adorable de Divo.
