You know what? Apartment Atlant surprised me. I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Dr. Ante Starčevića 24, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. The building looks pretty standard from the outside, sort of like most residential blocks in this part of Dubrovnik. But here’s the thing about this location that most people don’t realize until they’re actually staying here – you’re in this sweet spot where you can walk to the Old Town without dealing with all the tourist chaos right outside your door.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel, which I actually loved. Everything’s clean and functional, though honestly, don’t expect luxury finishes or anything fancy. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – this street doesn’t get the party crowd that you’ll find closer to Stradun, so you can actually sleep. The guy who checked me in (I think he was the owner?) knew the neighborhood inside and out. He told me about this little bakery around the corner that opens at 6 AM – locals line up there for burek, and it became my morning routine. Also mentioned which buses to take to avoid the cruise ship crowds, which saved me so much time and frustration.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before booking: parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving. There’s street parking, but it fills up fast during summer months. The apartment has everything you need for a few days – decent WiFi, a small kitchenette that’s perfect for making coffee and simple meals, and the shower has good water pressure (trust me, this matters more than you think after walking Dubrovnik’s stone streets all day). The whole place has this lived-in feel that I found way more comfortable than those sterile hotel rooms near the port. I mean, you’re not getting room service or a concierge, but you’re also not paying those prices. What you get is a genuine base to explore from, run by people who actually care about the neighborhood. The 8-rating makes total sense to me – it’s exactly what it promises to be, nothing more or less.
