Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Apartment Blaise-Old Town” on the booking site, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that surprise you, and this little gem on Palmotićeva absolutely did that.
The location is actually ridiculous – in the best way possible. You’re literally steps from Stradun (that’s the main marble street everyone walks down), but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the cruise ship crowds stumbling past your window at 6 AM. I mean, Palmotićeva is one of those narrow side streets that feels authentically Dubrovnik, where you’ll hear actual Croatian conversations drifting from apartment windows instead of just tourist chatter. The apartment itself has that authentic old-town charm – thick stone walls that keep things cool even in August heat, and these gorgeous traditional shutters that I found myself opening every morning just to peer out at the medieval architecture. The space is clean and well-maintained, though honestly, don’t expect luxury finishes. It’s more like staying in someone’s well-loved family place, which I actually preferred to those sterile hotel rooms.
What really won me over was how the owner seemed to actually care about the guest experience. Check-in was smooth (they met me right at the door since GPS gets confused in the old town), and they had this little handwritten note with restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps. They pointed me toward Konoba Dubrava, which is this tiny family-run place about a 3-minute walk away that I never would have found otherwise. The WiFi worked perfectly – important if you’re trying to upload those sunset photos from the city walls – and the shower had proper hot water pressure, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in these old buildings. One thing to note: there’s no elevator (obviously, it’s a 500-year-old building), and you’ll be carrying your luggage up some stone steps. Also, if you’re a super light sleeper, you might hear the occasional late-night reveler echoing off the stone streets, but that’s just part of the old town experience.
The whole area comes alive differently throughout the day too. Mornings are quiet and magical when you can walk Stradun without dodging selfie sticks, then by mid-morning the day-trippers arrive, and evenings settle into this lovely rhythm of locals heading to dinner and tourists wandering with that satisfied, slightly wine-buzzed glow. Being right in the heart of it all means you can duck back to the apartment for a quick siesta during the intense afternoon heat – something you definitely can’t do if you’re staying in Lapad or one of those resort areas outside the walls. For what you pay, especially considering you’re sleeping inside a UNESCO World Heritage site, it’s honestly great value. The 8.5 rating makes perfect sense – it’s not fancy, but it nails the essentials and gives you that authentic Dubrovnik experience that a lot of travelers are actually looking for.

Very central location, good directions and responsive host. Comfortable bed/ bedroom
What could be improved: Quite basic kitchen equipment, no plugs or washing up bowl. Lack of outdoor space, eg balcony.Lovely apartment and I fell in love with Dubrovnik. – Mark from United Kingdom – 2 May 2025 (9/10)
Host Pero was very pleasant and very helpful, left lovely help and hint notes. The location was superb in the old town, I could wander the streets at my convenience from very early to very late avoiding the busy times. WIFI was excellent and the apartment was well equipped and most importantly was very clean. the bed was large and super comfy. Would book again.
What could be improved: The shower/bath was a little snug for someone of my large build but ok, a word of warning to one and all brace yourselves for lots of steps and more steps.Great location, adequate kitchen supplies, would stay here again! – James from United States – 27 April 2025 (9/10)
Location, large bedroom, kitchenette. Good communication with the host. He allowed us a late check out.
What could be improved: Water tank insufficient for two people taking back to back showers. Installation of a handrail on the marble stairs is recommendedFantastic stay in a fantastic place – Celia from United Kingdom – 24 April 2025 (10/10)
The apartment was perfect, it had everything we needed and was in the perfect location.
It was clean and had sufficient supplies maintaining as well as toiletries and towels.
I honestly couldn’t rate this place enough.
Pero, who checked us in was brilliant and extremely helpful directly us from the airport too.
What could be improved: The only thing I could knock off was that the bed was harder than usual. I struggled to sleep one night so had a couple more drinks the next haha.Great hosts, great apartment, great location. – James from United States – 14 October 2024 (10/10)

Absolutely amazing host, absolutely amazing location, apartment and amenities. Perfect stay. The place even had reading material, two ACs and a tv. Beautiful place. I really really enjoyed my stay and would love to be back here if I'm visiting Dubrovnik again.
Superb – Hans from Australia – 28 September 2024 (9/10)
A lovely apartment in a very convenient location in the old town which is quite unique and pretty.
What could be improved: The steps to get there were quite steep and numerous especially when you have a large suitcase! … Hibut it's like this for much of the accommodation in the old town.
It is still worth the experience.Good – Donna from Australia – 10 September 2024 (7/10)
Location was good. Apartment was clean.
What could be improved: The amount of stairs to get to property. Should have been clearer in descriptionOur Little Croatian House – Sardone from Italy – 27 July 2024 (10/10)
The Apartment is a typical lovely house in the middle of the old town, very close to Stradun and few minutes from all highlights of Dubrovnik. The Apartment has all comforts and supplies, perfectly clean. The owner is always in contact to give information and solve problems.
What could be improved: To reach the Apartment you need to climb many steps, it's normal in Dubrovnik! I write this just to inform people with walking difficulties.
