It’s tucked away on Ulica kneza Damjana Jude – which, let me tell you, is one of those narrow Old Town streets that actually feels residential rather than touristy. I mean, you’re still very much in the thick of things, but there’s something quieter about this particular stretch. The building itself has that weathered stone look that screams authentic Dubrovnik, and climbing up to the third floor (no elevator, just so you know) gives you a nice little workout before you even start exploring the city walls.

What really got me was how the owner seemed to actually understand what travelers need. The apartment isn’t huge – it’s a 3-star place, so manage your expectations – but everything feels thoughtfully arranged. The windows face in a direction where you get morning light without the harsh afternoon sun that can turn these old stone buildings into ovens during summer. There’s decent Wi-Fi (I worked from there a couple mornings), and the kitchen actually has proper coffee-making equipment, not just those tiny hotel packets. The bathroom’s compact but functional, with water pressure that’s surprisingly good for Old Town standards. You know what I appreciated most though? The little touches – like having a drying rack that actually works, and enough outlets in sensible places. Small stuff, but it matters when you’re living somewhere for more than a night or two.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Dubrovnik rather than just visiting it. You’re a two-minute walk from Stradun, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds right outside your door. There’s this great little bakery about thirty seconds away where locals actually go for their morning coffee – you’ll hear the espresso machine firing up around 6:30 AM, which is either charming or annoying depending on your sleep schedule. Parking’s going to be your biggest challenge (it always is in Old Town), but the host gives you solid advice about where to leave your car if you’re driving. I ended up using the public lot outside Pile Gate and just walking my luggage in – took maybe eight minutes. The 9.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there; it’s not luxury by any stretch, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. If you’re looking for something authentic and well-located without breaking the bank, this place gets it right.
