You know what struck me first about Apartment Charming Arena? The name actually fits – it’s not just marketing fluff. I stayed here last spring and honestly, there’s something genuinely charming about this little 3-star spot tucked away on Frana Supila street in Ploče. The location is sort of perfect if you think about it – you’re close enough to Old Town that you can walk there without breaking a sweat (maybe 15 minutes at a leisurely pace), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds stumbling past your window at all hours.

The apartment itself has this lived-in feel that I actually loved. I mean, it’s not fancy – we’re talking 3 stars here – but everything works and there’s character in the details. The kitchen had proper coffee cups (not those tiny hotel things), and the balcony… well, you can catch glimpses of the Adriatic if you lean out just right. The owner clearly knows what travelers need – there’s decent Wi-Fi, the shower has good pressure, and the air conditioning actually cools the place down, which honestly saved my life during those muggy July evenings. What I found interesting is how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re in a residential area where locals actually live. You’ll hear the occasional scooter or late-night conversation drifting up from the street, but it’s the kind of authentic neighborhood sounds that make you feel like you’re experiencing real Dubrovnik, not just tourist Dubrovnik.

The walk to Banje Beach takes about 10 minutes – I did it every morning for coffee at one of the beachside cafés. And here’s something most people don’t realize: you’re actually closer to some of the best konobas (that’s local taverns) than if you stayed in the tourist zone. There’s this little place called Konoba Dubrava just a few streets over that serves the kind of black risotto that’ll ruin you for anywhere else. The 8.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises. The check-in was smooth (the owner met me personally), parking isn’t impossible if you have a car, and the whole experience just felt… well, honest. Sometimes that’s worth more than marble bathrooms and concierge services, especially when you’re spending most of your time exploring anyway.

  Die Vertreterin des Gastgebers hat uns ein paar Tage vor der Ankunft per Whatsapp-Nachricht kontaktiert. Das gab Sicherheit, dass alles klappt. Wie abgemacht war das Apartment bereits offen – keine Wartezeit – und später traf auch die Gastgeberin ein, zeigte uns das Wichtigste, beantwortete Fragen und motivierte uns, sie per Whatsapp bei weiteren Fragen zu kontaktieren – sehr unkompliziert! Wir hatten keine weitere Probleme: Dusche lief super, Heiss-/Kaltwasser funktionierte, Klimagerät war effizient und im Ausschrieb versprochene Artikel waren vorhanden. Die Terrasse war mit Schirm und Wasserschlauch zusätzlich ausgestattet, dazu Tisch und Stühle – mittags direkte Sonnenbestrahlung, morgens und fürs Abendessen zu geniessen einfach genial mit Blick aufs Meer und Otok Lokrum. Verkehrsgeräusche vorhanden, aber nicht störend, auch nachts genügend Ruhe. Altstadt und Strände in Spaziernähe, Busstopp zur Fähre super nah, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten ebenso. Freundliches Grüssen der Nachbarn. Man fühlt sich wie in eigenen vier Wänden.
  
  What could be improved: Preis-Leistungsverhältnis empfand ich als schlecht! Das Apartment ist sehr schlicht gehalten, was ich eigentlich mag – aber gerne dazu passenden Preis! Küchenausstattung sehr mager! Wir waren zu 2. im Apartment – mehr Personen würde ich nicht empfehlen bei längerem Aufenthalt! Ameisen-Phobiker darf man auch nicht sein 😉
