Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first heard “Apartment Dubrovnik 9099b,” I was expecting something pretty generic. But after staying in Ploče for a few days, I actually get why this place works for a lot of travelers. The location is what really caught me off guard – you’re literally a fifteen-minute walk from the Old Town walls, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the cruise ship crowds stumbling past your window at 6 AM. I mean, anyone who’s been to Dubrovnik in summer knows that’s worth its weight in gold.

The apartment itself is… well, it’s solid. Three stars feels about right – you’re not getting marble countertops or anything fancy, but everything actually works, which honestly can’t be said for every place I’ve stayed along the Croatian coast. The kitchen has real plates (not plastic tourist stuff), and the shower has decent water pressure, though it takes a minute to warm up. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – Ploče doesn’t have the bar scene that the Old Town does, so you can actually sleep with the windows open and hear the sea instead of drunk tourists. The Wi-Fi is surprisingly good too, which saved me when I needed to work a bit during my stay.

Here’s the thing about this area that most people don’t realize until they’re here – you’re walking distance from Banje Beach, but more importantly, you’re right near where the locals actually go. There’s this little konoba about three blocks down that doesn’t even have a sign in English, and their black risotto is better than anything you’ll find in the tourist zone for half the price. The apartment’s location also means you can walk to the cable car station without breaking a sweat, and trust me, doing that sunset ride up Srđ Hill is non-negotiable. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving – the streets are narrow and spots fill up fast during peak season, but there’s usually something within a block or two if you’re patient. The 7.2 rating feels fair to me – it’s not going to blow you away, but it delivers on the basics while putting you in a genuinely good spot to experience Dubrovnik like less of a tourist and more like someone who actually knows the city. Plus, the check-in was refreshingly straightforward, no drama or hidden fees that seem to pop up everywhere else these days.
