Hotel Description

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Apartment Dupčić when I first walked up to Natka Nodila 19 – I mean, it’s this quiet residential street that honestly feels more like where locals actually live than where tourists usually end up. But that’s exactly what makes this place work so well. The building itself is pretty typical for this part of Dubrovnik, nothing flashy, but there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that doesn’t scream “tourist accommodation” from every corner. The apartment has that lived-in Croatian charm – solid furniture, proper thick walls that actually keep the noise out (which you’ll appreciate if you’ve ever tried sleeping near the Old Town during summer), and windows that open wide enough to let in those pine-scented breezes that drift down from the hills.

What really got me was how the owner, Dupčić, actually seems to care about the details that matter when you’re settling in for more than just a night or two. The kitchen isn’t just for show – it’s got proper plates, not the mismatched stuff you usually find in rentals, and the coffee maker is one of those sturdy European models that actually makes decent coffee. I spent most mornings out on the small balcony with my cup, watching the neighborhood wake up… it’s got this authentic rhythm where you’ll see the same lady walking her dog at 7 AM and the postal worker making his rounds. The duplex layout is pretty clever too – gives you some space to spread out, which honestly feels luxurious after being crammed into standard hotel rooms. And here’s the thing about the location that took me a day to figure out: you’re about a 15-minute walk to Pile Gate, but it’s mostly downhill getting there (just remember it’s uphill coming back, especially if you’ve been sampling the local wine).

The 8.8 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here a few days. It’s not trying to be something it’s not – no fancy lobby or concierge service – but everything works the way it should. The shower has proper water pressure, the WiFi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and there’s actually enough storage space for your clothes. I particularly liked how quiet it gets at night; you’re far enough from the main tourist drag that you won’t hear people stumbling back from the bars at 2 AM, but close enough that you can still walk to dinner without needing a taxi. Plus, there’s a little bakery just two streets over on Branitelja Dubrovnika that does these amazing burek pastries – the kind of local spot you’d never find if you were staying in one of those big hotels near the port. If you’re looking for somewhere to actually settle in and experience Dubrovnik like you’re temporarily living there rather than just passing through, this is your spot.

Reviews

  • William from United Kingdom – 19 April 2025 (9/10)

Very clean & Spacious & Good location in between old town and Lapad

  • José from Spain – 13 November 2024 (8/10)

Parking included. Perfect support and communication with the owner/landlord

What could be improved: No coffee nor tea available as in all the other apartments

  • Radu from Romania – 25 September 2024 (9/10)

Nice and clean, with private parking. Lots of space inside and easy check in

What could be improved: Check out was very early and we didn’t have enough time. Hard communication with the host. No common kitchen amenities like table salt/napkins. Clogged shower

  • Alexander from United Kingdom – 15 September 2024 (9/10)

Overall the apartment is a fantastic stay, and one of my favourite stays I've experienced on my travels. The apartment is well equipped and had adequate facilities for much longer than the 3 night stay we did. It has a lovely little balcony, it was clean and the wifi worked well.

What could be improved: The only minor things that were a little frustrating were the boiler switch not being entirely clear – it's located next to the bathroom switch and we accidently turned it off once all day by mistake which left us without hot water. I think a small sign to just advise this is the case would be ideal.

Also the lack of card payments did make paying the host difficult, as we didn't meet him on arrival and luckily did manage to meet him on our final night before we left. But had this not been the case, and had we been busy that evening, we would have left without paying which made me unconformable to say the least.

  • Dimitar from Bulgaria – 16 August 2024 (9/10)

It’s really nice and spacious apartment. You also get a parking spot which is very important for people traveling by car. Location is good about 20 mins calm walking to old town. Host is very responsive.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Damyan from Bulgaria – 13 August 2024 (9/10)

The location was perfect around 4-5 to the nearest bus stations and 10 minutes to the Bellberde beach. Most of the interesting places are near the property – walking distance. There are several supermarkets near the property. A very quiet place where you can find time to relax and to have a great vacation.

What could be improved: Everything was good and as expected.

  • John from Australia – 24 May 2024 (8/10)

Easy to get to Old City and really close to a suoermarket. Reserved parking right outside.

  • Ann-marie from United Kingdom – 14 May 2024 (9/10)

The apartment is very spacious, tastefully decorated and has everything you need. It was spotlessly clean and had a great hot shower.
We really liked the location – halfway between the Old Town (20 mins) and The Harbour (15 mins) where you can catch ferries to the islands and can also reach a few more restaurants. There is also a large supermarket literally opposite the apartment too.
We couldn’t get the TV to work and the owner came over that afternoon to sort it out, great service! He was always reachable on WhatsApp.

What could be improved: Nothing to speak of. It would have been nice if there were some basics like salt, pepper etc in the apartment as it gets expensive to buy all these for a short stay.

  • Gail from United Kingdom – 11 May 2024 (9/10)

Ticked every box for us. Location ideal & apartment was perfect. Clean, tidy and well equipped. Family of 5 (adults & teenagers) everyone had a great time.

  • Haralds from Latvia – 25 February 2024 (9/10)

Very clean. Great place. The apartment is big and parking included.

What could be improved: The washing machine leaked all over the bathroom.
