I'll be honest – when I first spotted Apartment EMARO tucked away on Stolačka ulica, I almost walked right past it.
I’ll be honest – when I first spotted Apartment EMARO tucked away on Stolačka ulica, I almost walked right past it. The entrance is pretty understated, which actually turned out to be one of those happy accidents because you’re staying somewhere that feels more like a local secret than a tourist trap. The building sits on this quiet residential street that’s maybe a 12-minute walk from the Old Town walls, and I mean genuinely quiet – no cruise ship crowds stumbling past your window at 2 AM.
What really got me was how thoughtfully everything’s been put together inside. The apartment has this modern Croatian aesthetic that doesn’t try too hard, you know? Clean lines, local stone accents, and these gorgeous hardwood floors that actually stay cool even when it’s blazing hot outside (which, let’s face it, is most of summer in Dubrovnik). The kitchen’s properly equipped too – not just a mini-fridge and hot plate situation – so you can actually make coffee the way you like it instead of hunting down an overpriced café every morning. The bathroom’s got one of those rainfall showerheads that actually works, and honestly, after a day of climbing those ancient city walls, it’s pure bliss.
Here’s the thing about the location that took me a while to appreciate – you’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters, but far enough out that you get to see how Dubrovnik actually lives and breathes beyond the tourist center. There’s a small grocery store literally two blocks away where the owner, Marko, will chat with you about which local wines are worth trying. The 8 bus stops right at the corner if you want to hit Banje Beach without the trek, and parking (if you’re brave enough to drive in Croatia) is actually manageable in this neighborhood. I stayed here during shoulder season in May, and while I can’t speak to peak summer madness, the apartment stayed surprisingly cool and peaceful even when the city center was packed. The 9.7 rating honestly makes sense – it’s one of those places where someone clearly cared about getting the details right, from the blackout curtains that actually block light to the WiFi that doesn’t cut out every time your neighbor turns on their microwave.

Perfect weekend getaway! The apartment was bright, clean and very tastefully decorated. The kitchen was fully equipped for even the most demanding tastes. A dishwasher is a bonus. The bedrooms had clean shower/toilet facilities. Nikola gave good tips on what to do in Dubrovnik. With his guidance, we went on a cruise and a city tour. He really wanted his guests to enjoy themselves. A perfect holiday.

Perfect location for visiting Dubrovnik ..Near the old town and a short uber ride to new Dubrovnik ♥ Location was excellent ! Just a short walk to the oldtown and yet quiet for sleeping at night .Nikola was a brilliant host !Very friendly and helpful with advice on places to go ..If we needed anything he didn’t delay and on our last day there was torrential rain and he dropped us down rain ponchos which was much appreciated ! Thank you Nikola for your lovely apartment would highly reccomend for visiting Dubrovnik 👌

A big 10 out of 10, lovely home away home, the best host ever! I loved everything here!! !
The apartment is very new, sparkling clean, well organized and nicely structured. It has 2 separate ensuite bedrooms, very ideal for friends or even 2 couples! The bed is so comfortable, I had really good sleep! The shower is the best for me in the past 3 weeks in Europe. The price is reasonable too!
What makes this place stand out is the extremely hospitable and helpful host Nicolas, he went beyond to help you for everything —- allow late checkout / free luggage storage, borrow you rain coat, give you local tips, etc! He is such a loving and caring person, treat you like a friend / family instead of just cold business!
What could be improved: Nothing!
It’s a bit of walk (15mins) to the old town, but it’s acceptable for me.
