Hotel Description
You know what? I walked past Apartment Evening Star three times before realizing I’d found my place – it’s tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street called Ulica od Nuncijate, which honestly feels more like a local secret than a tourist zone. The building itself has that weathered Adriatic charm where you can’t tell if it’s 200 or 400 years old, but in the best possible way. When I finally spotted the discreet entrance, I was maybe two minutes from Stradun (the main drag) but felt completely removed from all that tourist chaos.
The apartment – and I mean, calling it just an “apartment” feels like underselling it – actually lives up to that 9.6 rating people keep throwing around. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of… I don’t know, authenticity? Like someone who actually understands Dubrovnik designed this space instead of some corporate hotel chain. The stone walls aren’t just for show – they keep the place naturally cool even when it’s blazing outside, which honestly saved me during my July visit. There’s this little balcony that overlooks the neighborhood’s rooftops, and if you crane your neck just right, you catch glimpses of the old city walls. I spent way too many mornings out there with coffee, watching locals head to work while cruise ship passengers were still figuring out their day plans.
What really got me was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The kitchen had real olive oil (not those tiny hotel bottles), the shower had proper water pressure – you’d be surprised how rare that is in old Dubrovnik buildings – and the Wi-Fi actually worked from every corner of the place. The owner, who I think lives nearby, was incredibly responsive without being intrusive. When I mentioned I was struggling to find good rakija, she somehow produced a bottle from a local distillery I never would have discovered otherwise. The whole experience felt less like staying in a rental and more like borrowing a friend’s perfectly appointed city pied-à-terre.
Here’s the thing about the location that booking sites won’t tell you: you’re close enough to walk to everything that matters (Rector’s Palace, the cathedral, that incredible city wall walk), but far enough from Stradun that you’re not dealing with the 6 AM street cleaning or the late-night bar crowds. The narrow streets around there come alive in the early evening when locals are heading home and the day-trippers have mostly cleared out – it’s genuinely magical timing if you pay attention. I mean, sure, you’ll still hear some tourist chatter, but it’s more like background ambiance than the full-on circus you get closer to the main attractions. For what it’s worth, this felt like the Dubrovnik experience I was hoping for but wasn’t sure still existed.

Staying ar Evening Star Apartament was a great experience. We spent three nights there and had nothing to complain about. The apartment looks exactly like in the pictures. It is very large, clean and comfortable.
We got great recommendations from Ana, who is a terrific host, and even a discount for the Karaka cruise.

Superb – James from United Kingdom – 14 August 2024 (9/10)
Nicely decorated and well equipped. Good condition and great views. Very responsive and helpful host
What could be improved: The living room and bedroom don’t have a dividing door, just a doorway, so if you have kids sleeping in one room you can’t make noise at night as the sound travels without a doorLovely apartment overlooking Dubrovnik – Susan from United States – 18 July 2024 (10/10)
Beautiful, clean, and comfortable apartment with an amazing view, especially of the sunsets. Our hostess was friendly and helpful. The parking was easy and convenient. We took Ubers to the city center; a bus stop is very close by. We would stay here again.
A wonderful stay in Dubrovnik with a welcoming host! – Pear from Netherlands – 28 May 2024 (10/10)
I had a fantastic stay at this lovely, big, and beautifully equipped apartment in Dubrovnik. The free parking was a huge plus, and getting to the Old Town was easy with an Uber ride costing just 6.50 EUR. The host, Ana, was incredibly nice and welcoming. I felt bad when I accidentally broke the showerhead on Sunday and Ana couldn't replace it since everything was closed. Despite that, she was so understanding and kind about the whole thing. It was a great experience overall, and I’d definitely recommend staying here!

It was one of our greatest experiences to stay in an apartment. Completely new and perspired from a to z.It is the best place for you in Dubrovnik if you are with a car. – Krisztián from Hungary – 6 September 2023 (10/10)
Even better than expected! There were surprise fruits in the fridge. 😉 Amazing 5-star host!!!
I would come back anytime. Definitely recommend. – Dragos from Romania – 7 August 2023 (10/10)
Quiet location, on the ground floor of the building. The apartment is very clean and equipped with everything you need. The host is very kind, responds to all your needs. Easy access if you come by car, parking available at any time. You can take the car if you want to go outside the city, where you can see wonderful and less crowded beaches. For going in the city I recommend Uber or city bus, in many places it is very difficult to find a parking space. Uber costs about 7.5-8 Euros to the Old Town.
