Hotel Description
You know what? I almost walked right past Apartment Gigi the first time I tried to find it – and honestly, that’s kind of perfect. Tucked away on this quiet residential street in Lapad, it doesn’t scream “tourist accommodation,” which is exactly why I ended up loving it. The building itself is this understated Croatian house that blends right into the neighborhood, and when you’re staying there, you actually feel like you’re living in Dubrovnik rather than just visiting it.
The thing about Lapad is that most people think it’s just where you stay when you can’t afford the Old Town hotels, but they’re missing the point entirely. Sure, you’re about a 20-minute bus ride from the city walls (and the buses run constantly, so don’t worry about that), but what you get instead is this whole authentic slice of how locals actually live. There’s this little bakery about three blocks down where I’d grab burek every morning – I mean, the smell alone would wake me up. The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious for the price point, and Gigi (yes, that’s actually the owner’s name) has this way of making you feel like family without being overly intrusive about it. She’ll give you these casual tips about which konoba serves the best peka, or mention that Wednesday mornings are when the produce truck comes through the neighborhood.
What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night – you’re close enough to hear the occasional late bus, but it’s more like a gentle hum than city noise. The apartment faces this small courtyard area, so you get these cooking smells drifting up in the evenings that just make you hungry in the best way possible. I spent most evenings sitting on the little balcony with a bottle of local wine, watching neighbors chat across their windows in rapid Croatian. The Wi-Fi actually works (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given in these family-run places), and there’s this tiny washing machine tucked into the bathroom that saved me from packing three weeks’ worth of clothes. It’s not fancy – the shower is one of those European hand-held things, and the kitchen is pretty basic – but everything works, everything’s clean, and somehow it all just feels right. If you’re the type who needs a concierge and daily housekeeping, this probably isn’t your spot, but if you want to wake up in a real neighborhood, walk to the actual grocery store locals use, and have a base that feels like home while you explore one of the most beautiful cities in Europe… well, I’d book it again in a heartbeat.

Spacious, Family-Friendly Apartment with Stunning Views – Sahil from United Kingdom – 23 April 2025 (10/10)
Gigi Apartment was the perfect home base for our family trip to Dubrovnik. With breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea, the apartment is nestled in a peaceful residential area just a 20-minute walk or 5-minute Uber ride from the heart of the Old Town. It offered a calm retreat after a busy day exploring, without feeling disconnected from the main attractions.
The location is incredibly practical—free parking right outside the apartment (a rare gem in Dubrovnik), and a well-stocked supermarket just five minutes away, made even more convenient thanks to a handy shortcut shared by our lovely host, Susi. We could easily access the historic Old Town and take day trips without worrying about logistics.
Inside, the apartment was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, especially as a family with young children. There were plenty of toys, games, and little extras to keep the kids entertained—even on a rainy day when we were indoors, they had more than enough to keep busy. Safe to say, they didn’t want to leave!
What really stood out was the warmth and responsiveness of our host, Susi. She was incredibly helpful, available whenever needed, and went the extra mile to make sure we had a smooth and enjoyable stay.
If you’re looking for a well-equipped, family-friendly apartment with amazing views and easy access to central Dubrovnik, this is it. We would absolutely stay here again!
What could be improved: Nothing to add. Apartment exceeded our expectations.Exceptional – Yeswanth from India – 6 November 2024 (10/10)

It's incredible that in crowded Dubrovnik you can live in a house on a cliff in a quiet neighborhood – Marcin from Poland – 23 October 2024 (10/10)
An overnight stay in a nice house on a cliff overlooking the sea while visiting one of the most crowded places in the region is a treasure. Walking distance to the fortress is no more than half an hour. Peace and quiet, free parking spaces on the street. Helpful and nice host. Price very appropriate.
Suzy was helpful and welcoming, and the apartment has all you need including great views. – Rosarie from United Kingdom – 27 September 2024 (9/10)
The host Suzy was very friendly and welcoming and went over and above in offering to let us leave our bags in her house while we enjoyed our day in Dubrovnik and assisting with taxi to the airport. Fabulous sea views from the private terrace and bedroom balcony window, so overall we were very happy.
House with beautiful seaview – Eng from Singapore – 17 June 2024 (9/10)
Beautiful seaview. Nice quaint house. We bought a one day Dubrovnik pass so that we could leave our car outside the house and take the bus to the old town. Parking at the old town is expensive and difficult to find.

It was all great. The Appartment was very clean, spacious and well equipped with a fantastic view from all rooms and a great terrace.
The location was brilliant, less than 5 mins from the steps to Bellevue beach which is beautiful and 20-25 mins walk to the old town (sometimes a little hard work in the heat, but a nice walk).
We were also really pleased with the beds – all very comfortable and we all slept very well!
The area is also very nice, quiet and felt very safe and friendly. There was a mini- supermarket 2 minutes walk away.
The owner was great – very responsive and helpful.
What could be improved: Nothing – all was great, would 100% recommend to anyone.great! – Carina from Portugal – 18 September 2024 (8/10)
The views of the apartment were great.
The apartment was 20 minute walk from the old town.Exceptional – Karen from United Kingdom – 15 June 2023 (10/10)
Very clean and comfortable apartment 25 minutes from the centre of Dubrovnik. Beautiful sea view . Handy local supermarket for basic shopping . Ideal for a short city break.
What could be improved: The short cut through the back alley on an evening. Dark and hazardous dog poo . Need a torch if you're returning late . But that's no reflection on this apartment
