So you know that moment when you’re walking through Ploče and you stumble across something that just feels… right? That’s exactly what happened when I first spotted Apartment H&D on Ulica Zlatni Potok. I mean, the name literally translates to “Golden Stream Street,” which honestly sounds way more poetic than most addresses you’ll find in Dubrovnik.

What really gets me about this place is how it sits in this sweet spot between the chaos of the Old Town and the residential calm that most tourists never experience. You’re basically a 15-minute walk from Pile Gate – close enough that you can pop back for a midday break when the crowds get overwhelming, but far enough that you’re not dealing with cruise ship passengers wheeling their luggage past your window at 7 AM. The apartment itself has this lived-in quality that I actually prefer to those sterile hotel rooms downtown. There’s real character here, and honestly, the 9.7 rating makes total sense once you’re inside. The kitchen isn’t huge, but it’s got everything you need if you want to grab some fresh fish from the morning market in Gruž (which, by the way, is way better than anything you’ll find in the tourist restaurants). The beds are proper comfortable – not those firm European mattresses that leave you feeling like you slept on a board.

Here’s what I really appreciate though: the location gives you this authentic slice of how locals actually live in Dubrovnik. You’ll hear kids playing in the courtyard, smell someone’s grandmother cooking lunch, maybe catch a neighbor watering their plants on a tiny balcony. It’s the Croatia that exists beyond the Instagram shots, you know? Parking can be a bit of a puzzle – this is Dubrovnik, after all – but there are spots if you know where to look, and the owners actually give you decent directions instead of just saying “figure it out.” The noise level is perfect too; quiet enough to sleep properly, but you still get those ambient sounds of the neighborhood that remind you you’re somewhere special. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you’re the type who wants to experience Dubrovnik like someone who actually lives there rather than just passing through with a camera.

  This was a serviced apartment so we made our own breakfast. However the host had provided everything that is needed for preparing a breakfast including bread knife!
  
  A big thank you to the cleaning lady who gave us a spotless and clean apartment. The host was excellent and even before we landed we had the message about the property, pictures of the lane which really helped us and the door code. We requested for some extras and everything was in place when we arrived.
  
  The view from the balcony is breathtaking!
  
  The apartment is spacious and can easily accommodate 4 adults. The location of the property is a few mins walk to Victorija bus station and buses number 5 and 8 led us to Pila (old town) and all around the main spots of the wonderful city of Dubrovnik. We could also go, very early in the morning by a quick 5 min Uber to different locations to be picked up for long tours to nearby countries, which we did, for full day trips. Then the best part was (though the walk from the bus stop seemed a bit steep after a long day, it was still fun!) reaching the apartment to unwind and enjoy late evenings.
  
  The air conditioner was all set (though we didn't use it as the weather was slightly cool), the TV, WiFi (excellent) and the washing machine, super comfortable beds, extra duvets, everything was super. We will be visiting and booking again! Happy to help others with any questions.

  Lovely clean apartment with all amenities and a splendid view. Good air conditioning which was a boon in the hot conditions. Bedrooms could be blacked out completely and at night it was absolutely silent inside. No external noise whatsoever. Big, comfortable beds. Excellent host. Easily contactable and very helpful. Spoke over the phone only but went out of her way to print my boarding tickets (Electronic scanning may be an issue at Dubrovnik airport; Wizzair advised to print) and got them delivered by her husband. There was a big orange juice carton and 2 bottles of water in the fridge. Coffee, tea, sugar available. Washing powder for washing machine. Hand wash was there but other toiletries not. The view from the balcony is stunning but you have to stand up to enjoy it. Sitting down on the chairs the high balustrade obstructs most of the view.
  
  What could be improved: Apartment itself is excellent. However, there are a few things to consider. It’s on the eastern most side of town in a building that is up an incline which gets steeper as you get nearer. 2 flights of stairs to get into the building, after which another 3 floors to climb to reach the 4th floor apartment. No lift. If you have heavy luggage or physical disabilities please think carefully before chosing this one. We had only cabin bags and back packs. Secondly, the building is in the middle of a very narrow dead-end residential area street with cars parked on both sides. There is no place to turn a car at the end and taxis often have to reverse all the way to the beginning of the street. Most taxi drivers are aware of this and will drop you at the beginning of the street and you are left with another 50 metres or so of steep climbing. Our airport taxi driver was the only one who took us to the front of the building. The bus stop is about 5 minutes away and if you are returning by bus, you still have about 5 minutes of steep roadway and the delightful steps of the building at the end. It’s about 25-30 minutes of walking to the Ploce gate entrance of old town depending on your speed of walking. Thirdly, if you want to return by taxi/ Uber, there is a one way system in this part of the city. So, the taxi from the Ploce gate has to go away from your apartment towards the city for a distance before turning back to come to the apartment. Uber prices are usually slightly cheaper than taking a taxi from the stand. Most of the time, when you call an Uber, it will be a taxi car that comes but the price is fixed and better.

  What I liked? Everything. Really there is nothing wrong I can tell about this place. The staff is great, I never met such nice and helpful person. Thank you very much. The view was simply amazing. Exactly like on the photos. The whole apartment is clean, comfy and feels like home. Kitchen is well equipped, there was a bottle of wine waiting for us in the fridge which was a perfection in hot summer days. AC is in every room, there are two bathrooms. You can self check in. We were allowed to stay a couple of hours after check out. Really, it is perfect. You can book this apartment and you won't regret!
