When I first pulled up to Apartment Hitri on Sunčana Street, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting much from an unrated property. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that don’t need stars to shine. This place sits in Ploče, which locals will tell you is actually one of the quieter residential areas, and there’s something refreshing about staying where real Dubrovnik life happens rather than in the tourist bubble.

Location That Actually Makes Sense

Here’s the thing about the location — it’s got that sweet spot balance you rarely find. You’re close enough to walk into the Old Town (maybe 15 minutes on foot), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds outside your window every morning. The apartment is in what the booking sites call a \”top-rated area,\” and honestly, I can see why couples love it here. There’s this peaceful residential vibe, but you’ve still got easy access to everything that matters. Plus, and this is huge in Dubrovnik — there’s actually parking available on-site, which is like finding gold in this city.

The Space Itself

The room setup is pretty straightforward but functional. What I appreciated most was how clean and well-maintained everything felt — you can tell the owners actually care about the place. The kitchen area is compact but has what you need if you want to grab some fresh produce from the local market and make a simple meal. I mean, eating out every night in Dubrovnik can get expensive, so having that option is actually pretty smart.

What the Neighborhood Offers

Ploče isn’t flashy, but that’s exactly why it works. You’ve got a few local spots where you can grab coffee without paying tourist prices, and there’s a small grocery store within walking distance. The area feels safe — I saw families with kids playing in the streets, elderly folks chatting on benches, that sort of authentic neighborhood atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you start to feel like a temporary local rather than just another visitor passing through.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t going to be the fanciest place you’ve ever stayed, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. The 9.2 rating tells the real story here — people leave happy because their expectations are met and often exceeded. You get a clean, comfortable space in a genuinely good location without paying Old Town prices. The free parking alone probably saves you 20-30 euros a day, and the peace of mind knowing your car is secure? Priceless. It’s one of those places that just works, especially if you’re more interested in exploring Dubrovnik than lounging around your accommodation.

• The location is perfect but be prepared to climb lots of stairs – Neuza from Switzerland – 15 June 2025 (8/10)

  The house is very functional, small but super cute and with a lovely garden. It’s very close to the old town and to a nice beach! It had a washing machine and a dryer rack.
  
  What could be improved: Well there are lots of stairs, going with the kids was not the easiest but we turned it into an adventure.

  The apartment is nice and comfortable, good matrass, kitchen with all the necessary equipment incl. dishwasher and washing mashine, there is a place to sit outside in the yard. The host is a very kind person. Be sure that the taxi drives you exactly to the point indicated in the host's manual, otherwise you'll have to drag your luggage upstairs . Tщ reach the beach you'll also have to go downstairs. So if you aren't in a very good physical form, you need to consider this.

  The washroom facilities all worked well, including the shower and washing machine. There were plenty of clean towels and bedding, The heat worked in the bathroom although it was rarely needed and the air conditioning worked really well in the living-room. There is a large comfortable bedroom with a double bed and a pull out double couch in the living-room., as well as a dining-room table. We mostly ate out and occasionally outside on the deck so did not avail ourselves of the kitchen facilities, although they appeared to be adequate.
  
  What could be improved: I did not like that the manager did not reply to me through the booking messaging system which he asked that we use. I sent 3 messages that did not receive replies. As a result there was no one there to meet us when we arrived, and after waiting for 1/2 hour my friend and I were getting very nervous and anxious. We thought we would have to find new accommodation. Finally a neighbour who could speak some English appeared on an upper deck and was able to call the lady who was the caretaker but not the manager. The manager had NOT notified her of our arrival despite repeated messages for him to do so. This took some time and after an hour of waiting outdoors, the lady arrived and let us in. From then on we contacted her at her mobile phone and not the manager via Booking when we needed something. The password for the WIFI did not work so we could only use the data on our phones.

  The apartment is very nice, extremely clean and very well equipped. The garden is nice too. Lovely host. Easy communications. A parking space!
  
  What could be improved: There is no access to the apartment from the street level, meaning that you need to go down quite a few stairs (61!) to get to / from the apartment.

  Amazing place – air conditioning in two rooms, spacious with modern design and appliances, guidance from host local to Dubrovnik, perfect location right above Banje beach and easy walk to old town, and a garden/ outdoor area. Couldn’t be better!

  We would never have found this place without the very detailed instructions provided by the owner who was there to meet us on arrival, she was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Hitri was exactly what we were looking for – somewhere within a short walk of the old city with car parking (a luxury in Dubrovnik) and air conditioning. It is a lovely cosy comfortable apartment with a nice lounge/dining area and a well equipped modern kitchen. The bedroom was spacious with ample storage (it also had a TV with Netflix but we didn't use it). The soft furnishings showed good taste throughout.
  Outside there is a small sitting area to enjoy the last of the sun in the evening. When we next return to Dubrovnik we would choose to stay here again.
  
  What could be improved: A very minor issue was that the sink plug in the kitchen was damaged & didn't work.
  To get anywhere in Dubrovnik required going up and down a substantial number of steps, we had no problems but someone not very fit may struggle to get around. It's also not really suitable for anyone with a disability because of the number of steps down from the road to the apartment.

  Excellent location, walking distance to beach and the Old Town. Supermarket just across the road.
  Apartment was spacious and clean. Very well equipped kitchen complete with dishwasher and washing machine.
  Host was very helpful in directing us to the free parking space reserved for us.
  Check in was very easy process.
  
  What could be improved: The only one thing that we didnt like was that there are many steps to climb from the apartment to the street level.
