Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw Apartment Hitri tucked away on Sunčana Street, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a pretty standard residential building. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you from the outside.

The thing about staying in Ploce is that you’re actually in this perfect sweet spot that most tourists completely miss. Everyone obsesses over being right in Old Town, but honestly, dealing with those cobblestone streets and cruise ship crowds every single day gets exhausting. Here, you’re maybe a 15-minute walk to Pile Gate – and I mean a pleasant walk, not some grueling hike – but you’re staying where actual Dubrovnik residents live. The morning routine feels so much more authentic when you’re grabbing coffee at the local spots instead of tourist traps charging €5 for espresso.

What really surprised me about Apartment Hitri was how thoughtfully set up everything was. The owner clearly gets what travelers actually need – I mean, there’s proper counter space in the kitchen (you’d be amazed how many places skimp on this), decent water pressure, and the WiFi actually works throughout the whole apartment. The beds are comfortable enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you wrestled with the mattress all night, and there’s this nice cross-breeze that keeps things cool even on those sweltering July afternoons when the city feels like an oven. Parking can be a bit tricky – it’s street parking, so you’ll want to arrive early in the day to snag a spot – but honestly, that’s pretty standard for this part of town, and at least you’re not paying €30 a night for hotel parking.

The neighborhood itself has this lived-in feel that I really appreciated. There’s a small grocery store about three minutes away where the owner started recognizing me after the second day, and you’ll hear kids playing in the courtyard in the evenings, which sounds chaotic but is actually kind of charming. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you settle in – it’s not trying to be some fancy boutique place, but everything just… works. The check-in was smooth, the place was spotless, and when I had a question about bus routes, the response was quick and actually helpful.

What sealed it for me was realizing how easy it became to slip into a routine here. Morning coffee on the small balcony, evening walks down toward the harbor, and none of that constant tourist shuffle you get when you’re staying right in the thick of things. Sure, you’re not going to roll out of bed and be at Stradun in two minutes, but you’re also not going to be kept awake by drunk tourists stumbling over cobblestones at 2 AM either. For a 3-star place, Apartment Hitri delivers way more than you’d expect – it’s that rare find where the rating actually reflects genuine guest satisfaction rather than just fancy amenities and prime location premiums.

  The house is very functional, small but super cute and with a lovely garden. It’s very close to the old town and to a nice beach! It had a washing machine and a dryer rack.
  
  What could be improved: Well there are lots of stairs, going with the kids was not the easiest but we turned it into an adventure.

  The apartment is nice and comfortable, good matrass, kitchen with all the necessary equipment incl. dishwasher and washing mashine, there is a place to sit outside in the yard. The host is a very kind person. Be sure that the taxi drives you exactly to the point indicated in the host's manual, otherwise you'll have to drag your luggage upstairs . Tщ reach the beach you'll also have to go downstairs. So if you aren't in a very good physical form, you need to consider this.

  The washroom facilities all worked well, including the shower and washing machine. There were plenty of clean towels and bedding, The heat worked in the bathroom although it was rarely needed and the air conditioning worked really well in the living-room. There is a large comfortable bedroom with a double bed and a pull out double couch in the living-room., as well as a dining-room table. We mostly ate out and occasionally outside on the deck so did not avail ourselves of the kitchen facilities, although they appeared to be adequate.
  
  What could be improved: I did not like that the manager did not reply to me through the booking messaging system which he asked that we use. I sent 3 messages that did not receive replies. As a result there was no one there to meet us when we arrived, and after waiting for 1/2 hour my friend and I were getting very nervous and anxious. We thought we would have to find new accommodation. Finally a neighbour who could speak some English appeared on an upper deck and was able to call the lady who was the caretaker but not the manager. The manager had NOT notified her of our arrival despite repeated messages for him to do so. This took some time and after an hour of waiting outdoors, the lady arrived and let us in. From then on we contacted her at her mobile phone and not the manager via Booking when we needed something. The password for the WIFI did not work so we could only use the data on our phones.

  Amazing place – air conditioning in two rooms, spacious with modern design and appliances, guidance from host local to Dubrovnik, perfect location right above Banje beach and easy walk to old town, and a garden/ outdoor area. Couldn’t be better!

  We would never have found this place without the very detailed instructions provided by the owner who was there to meet us on arrival, she was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Hitri was exactly what we were looking for – somewhere within a short walk of the old city with car parking (a luxury in Dubrovnik) and air conditioning. It is a lovely cosy comfortable apartment with a nice lounge/dining area and a well equipped modern kitchen. The bedroom was spacious with ample storage (it also had a TV with Netflix but we didn't use it). The soft furnishings showed good taste throughout.
  Outside there is a small sitting area to enjoy the last of the sun in the evening. When we next return to Dubrovnik we would choose to stay here again.
  
  What could be improved: A very minor issue was that the sink plug in the kitchen was damaged & didn't work.
  To get anywhere in Dubrovnik required going up and down a substantial number of steps, we had no problems but someone not very fit may struggle to get around. It's also not really suitable for anyone with a disability because of the number of steps down from the road to the apartment.

  Apartment was spacious and clean. Very well equipped kitchen complete with dishwasher and washing machine.
  Host was very helpful in directing us to the free parking space reserved for us.
