Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Apartment Ikana? It’s actually tucked away in Old Town Dubrovnik in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special — not one of those places where tour groups are constantly shuffling past your window. The duplex setup is honestly pretty clever, especially if you’re traveling with another couple or family, because the two bedrooms are split between floors so everyone gets their own space without that cramped apartment feeling.
The location is where this place really shines, and I mean that in the most practical sense. You’re literally within the ancient city walls, which sounds romantic until you realize what that actually means for your daily routine. The nearest grocery store is maybe a five-minute walk down some stone steps (and trust me, you’ll learn to love those steps), and you can grab fresh bread from the bakery on Stradun before the cruise ship crowds wake up. The apartment sits on one of those narrow side streets — Od Domina, I think? — where the morning light hits just right and you can actually hear the city waking up instead of just tourist chatter. Parking is… well, it’s Dubrovnik Old Town, so you’ll be using the public garage outside Pile Gate like everyone else, but honestly that’s probably better than trying to navigate these medieval streets with a rental car.
What I really appreciated was how the place felt lived-in without being worn out, if that makes sense. The kitchen actually has proper cookware (not those flimsy tourist apartment pots), and the washing machine is tucked under the stairs in that efficient European way. The bedrooms stay surprisingly cool even in July heat — those thick stone walls aren’t just for show. I’ll be honest, the Wi-Fi can be spotty during peak tourist season when everyone’s streaming, but that’s pretty standard for Old Town. The duplex layout means you’re not all on top of each other, which is clutch when someone wants to stay up late on the terrace with a bottle of that local Plavac Mali wine. Speaking of the terrace — it’s small but perfectly positioned to catch the evening breeze, and you can actually see a sliver of the Adriatic if you crane your neck just right. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that complicated key pickup dance you sometimes get with apartment rentals. Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, but it’s exactly what you want in Dubrovnik: authentic, comfortable, and placed where you can actually experience the city instead of just photographing it.

Ikana is the best! – Jamie from Australia – 11 June 2025 (10/10)
Fantastic location, central to everything you want to see in dubrovnik. Lovely host, great communication and always happy to help if you have any requests. Charming decor, I particularly loved using the clothesline.
What could be improved: The shower recess is very cramped
