You know what caught me off guard about Apartment Ivo & Mare? It’s tucked away on Od Batale in Lapad, and honestly, I almost walked right past it the first time – but that’s actually part of its charm. The whole area feels like you’re staying in an actual Croatian neighborhood rather than some tourist bubble, which I really appreciated after spending a few days dodging cruise ship crowds in the Old Town.

The apartments themselves are… well, they’re exactly what you’d hope for from a family-run place. Everything’s clean and functional without being fancy, and Mare (I’m assuming she’s the Mare from the name) was genuinely helpful with local tips – she told me about this little bakery around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just solid accommodation that gets the basics right. I mean, the WiFi actually worked consistently, the shower had proper pressure, and the little kitchenette was perfect for making coffee in the morning without having to venture out immediately.

What really sold me on the location was how easy it was to get around. Lapad peninsula is this sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to Lapad Bay for a swim (maybe 10 minutes), but far enough from the main tourist drag that you can actually get some sleep at night. The bus into Dubrovnik’s Old Town runs pretty regularly, and parking – if you’re driving – isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the city walls. I actually enjoyed the evening walks back from dinner, especially in late spring when the whole area smells like jasmine and you can hear families chatting on their balconies. It reminded me why I love staying in places where real people actually live, rather than those sterile hotel districts that could be anywhere in the world.

  The host communicated wonderfully and everything was set up easily for parking space and key access. The location is ideal for old town (a 45 minutes walk) and the wharf area (a 10 minute walk). Pantarul, such a delightful restaurant that we went twice!, was just a quick 8 minutes walk. There's bus service that must be real friendly and easy to take, because locals and tourists alike took it, but we did not. There are markets and pharmacies nearby.
  
  What could be improved: Arriving after dark with no outside light in a lovely garden and secluded patio setting was, initially, off putting for two ladies traveling. We needed a torch to navigate. But once inside, all was well! It appeared the property had not been stayed in for a while, but immediately upon messaging the host, essential items that were missing were quickly delivered! A quick meet with the young hostess revealed a change in the family who was coordinating the house rental, so everything that was not just right with us is certainly unusual for them. She was quite responsive! A quick dusting and wiping down was all that was needed. The washing machine was handy as was the outside line drying.

  This is a great property in a perfect location . The host Maria is a beautiful person and very kind. You are 10 minutes walk to the beach and a #6 bus ride to the old town. Parking on site as well. Facilities are great, everything you need fully equipped,

  Very clean and well equipped, comfy beds and a nice living space.
  The bathroom had a powerful shower and there was a washing machine which could be handy for a longer stay.
  Great location for walking to places in Lapad or jumping on the bus to old town. We actually walked back from the old town in around 35 mins too

  The apartment is in excellent condition with fully furnished. Even with only one air conditioning but it cover both room evenly. Perfect location to old town or beach. Lovely lady to welcome us with some welcome snacks and drink.

  Very nice host, easy location with bus to old town and supermarket nearby. All you need in an apartment is there. Spacious, comfortable and clean. Also quiet residential area for a good night sleep.

  Very quiet 2 bedroom , single storey apartment in Lapad owned by a lovely lady who looked after us beautifully. Close to the bustop and mini mart and an easy ride into the old town gate. A ten minute walk to the beach if you don't stop off at all the bars and restaraunts on the way. Totally enjoyable stay and would definitely stay again.
