Walking up to Apartment Ivy on M. Gupca street, you immediately get that “I made the right choice” feeling. This four-star property sits in Ploce, which honestly is one of those neighborhoods where locals actually want to live — not just the touristy spots everyone talks about. The building has this understated elegance that feels authentically Croatian, and you know what? The parking situation is actually sorted here, which if you’ve ever driven in Dubrovnik, you’ll understand is basically a small miracle.
Here’s the thing about Ploce — it’s close enough to the Old Town that you can walk there in about ten minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds outside your window at 7 AM. I mean, couples seem to really get this balance (they’ve rated the location 9.1, which tracks), because you can have romantic evening strolls without fighting through selfie sticks. The neighborhood has this residential vibe where you’ll see locals doing their grocery shopping and kids playing in small parks, which gives you a much more authentic feel of how people actually live here.
The apartment itself strikes that perfect balance between having enough space to actually unpack your suitcase and feeling cozy rather than sterile. What I really appreciated was the attention to practical details — you’ve got proper kitchen facilities if you want to grab some fresh seafood from the local market and cook it yourself. The room layout makes sense too, not like some places where you’re constantly bumping into furniture. Everything feels thoughtfully arranged, and the windows actually open properly, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong.
One thing that really stood out was how the property just works for actual living, not just Instagram photos. The Wi-Fi is solid (I was working remotely part of the time), and the water pressure is what you’d hope for after a day of walking around Dubrovnik’s stone streets. You’re also within easy reach of a proper grocery store and some local cafes where you can get decent coffee without paying Old Town prices. The staff knows the area well too — they gave me directions to this little bakery that I never would have found otherwise.
That 9.3 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen — it reflects how this place gets the fundamentals right while adding those small touches that make a difference. You’re staying in what locals consider one of the best areas in Dubrovnik, but you’re not paying the premium you’d expect for that location. It’s the kind of place where you can have both the tourist experience when you want it and the local experience when you need a break from all that. Plus, having your own space means you can start your day with coffee on your terms, not whenever the hotel restaurant decides to open.

What could be improved: Nothing to change really, just be prepared to climb stairs to reach the place as the street is quite steep.
Petar our host was so helpful and accommodating, provided us with airport transfers which included a late night pick up on arrival and was happy to work around us
Location was incredible - amazing view of the old town, the harbor and surrounding islands.
The landlord met us and helped to find a parking spot that is crucial in Dubrovnik. One can't just simply find a free parking spot at all. The apartment matches its high mark. The view of the old city exceeded our expectations. I do recommend this place.
Stunning view, very clean and spacious apartment
What could be improved: Stairs to the apartment, there’s a lot of them and getting to the supermarket and back is quite the effort.
This is a comfortable apartment with a stunning city view and a very cozy terrace. The apartment is close to the old town, but you need to climb stairs to get there. It is not recommended for elderly people as it can be very challenging to reach.
We were warmly welcomed, assisted with check-in, and allowed a late check-out. There was a bottle of water in the fridge and sweets as well, coffee and tea. The apartment was impeccably clean.
What could be improved: Large pillows.

Views are earned with 500 steps from sea level. Magnificent terrace and hosts arranged for easy parking. Loved it.
All was great. It is really close to the old city. It is like 400 meters that takes 10 minutes because of the stairs, but that transversal to all homes in this city. On the other side you get a great view from the citadel.
The communication was great, even allowed to leave our bags during the check out day.
What could be improved: Really no complains. It is a small space, but enough for the time you spend at home
