Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Apartment Kate with FREE PARKING” in the booking results, I almost scrolled past it. The name screams basic rental, right? But man, was I wrong about this place. Kate’s spot on Iva Dulčića is actually one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you cracked some local code.

First thing that hits you is how quiet this street is, especially compared to the madness down in Old Town. You’re still close enough to walk to Pile Gate in maybe 15 minutes (downhill, obviously), but you’re removed from all that tourist chaos. The free parking thing isn’t just a nice touch – it’s genuinely life-changing if you’re driving in Dubrovnik. I mean, parking near the walls costs more per day than some people’s rent, so having a guaranteed spot is huge. Kate actually met us at the apartment to show us the exact space, which… you know what, that level of personal attention sets the tone for everything.

The apartment itself feels like staying at a friend’s place rather than some sterile hotel room. It’s got this lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake – proper Croatian coffee setup, local wines in the welcome basket, and Kate left these handwritten notes about her favorite konobas in the neighborhood. The 4-star rating seems about right, though honestly the 9.5 guest score makes more sense once you’re there. Everything works exactly as it should, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like so many places, and the shower has actual water pressure (small victories, but they matter). The balcony overlooks this peaceful residential area where you can hear church bells in the morning instead of cruise ship announcements.

What really sold me was the local knowledge Kate shares. She pointed us toward this family-run place called Villa Ruža just up the street – not in any guidebook, but the kind of spot where locals actually eat. The walk to Banje Beach takes about 20 minutes through neighborhoods most tourists never see, and you avoid that brutal climb back up from the harbor. Kate also mentioned the best times to hit the city walls (early morning, obviously, but she knew exactly which entrance has shorter lines on which days). These aren’t things you’d get from some big hotel chain – this is someone who actually lives here and wants you to experience her city properly. Sure, you’re not getting room service or a concierge desk, but you’re getting something better: genuine local insight and a place that feels like home base while you explore one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.

  Super kind host! The place is at an amazing and quiet location with an easily accessible parking. The apartment itself is beautifully furnished, spotless and perfect for 2 couples. The bathroom is well equipped and very cozy. There's also a great restaurant just behind the building and nothing beats not having to walk far to get back home after a nice dinner. From the apartment, about a 10-minute walk away, you are close to the beach and very nice cafes. At the exit of the building on the right side you have the market and next to the market a pharmacy, 50 meters from the apartment building on the left you have a bakery. As for the apartment itself, you don't lack anything, especially in the kitchen, you don't even need to bring coffee utensils, you have everything there. Definitely, if I go to Dubrovnik again, I will choose this apartment.

  The apartment was in a fantastic location close to transport, restaurants and shops. Short bus ride to old town and beautiful walk to the beach. Apartment itself was beautiful and clean. Great shower and cooling. The best we have had on our journey through Croatia.

  The owner was very friendly and helpful. Have good place for car right in front of the block. Great location with easy to public transport, beaches, restaurants and tourist office. The supermarket is next door and station from bus Line 6 to old town with short walk up the street.You have 20-25 minute walk down to Sunset Beach and close to a lot of restaurants.

  We really liked the appartment, it was clean and spacious with everything we needed. It was close to a nice port and we enjoyed lovely walks.
  
  What could be improved: Unfortunately, we had a problem with the lack of privacy. The air condition is located in the living room, so we had to keep bedroom doors open in order to get some cool air. We were two couples and it was a bit uncomfortable to keep them open, especially at night. If you had a small fan in each room, our problem would be solved.
