You know what caught me off guard about Apartment Luka? The fact that it’s tucked away on Od Izvora street – which honestly, I had to ask for directions twice because it’s one of those quiet residential roads that doesn’t show up on every tourist map. But that’s actually perfect because you’re about a 15-minute walk from the Old Town madness without being stuck in the middle of it.
The place has this really genuine local vibe that I wasn’t expecting from a 4-star spot. I mean, the owner Luka (yeah, it’s actually his name) was there when I checked in, and he spent like twenty minutes just chatting about the best time to hit the city walls before the cruise ship crowds arrive. The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious – I’m talking about a proper living area where you can actually spread out your stuff, not one of those cramped hotel rooms where your suitcase becomes a permanent floor fixture. The kitchen’s well-equipped too, which came in handy because there’s this little market just down the street where locals shop. I ended up making breakfast most mornings and eating it on the balcony, watching the neighborhood wake up slowly.
What really sold me on this place was the attention to detail that you don’t usually get in bigger hotels. The bathroom actually has decent water pressure (trust me, this matters after a day of walking those stone streets), and the bed is comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been sleeping on a medieval torture device. The Wi-Fi works everywhere in the apartment – I was video calling family from the balcony without any issues. Parking was straightforward too, though you’ll want to ask Luka about the best spots because street parking in Dubrovnik can be… well, let’s just say it’s an adventure. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet at night, which I loved after spending days in the tourist zones where there’s constant chatter and music until late. You’ll hear some traffic in the morning, but it’s more of a gentle hum than anything jarring. If you’re planning to visit during summer, book early because places like this – the ones that feel more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel – fill up fast once word gets around.

The property was well presented and spacious. There were nice touches such as the snacks in the kitchen and toiletries already on the bathroom shelf.

The property location is great and very handy to get into the Old City and surrounding areas. It has a stunning view overlooking the marina and is in a peaceful location.

Our hosts were very helpful, keeping us updated with information via Whatsapp. The apartment is a good size and reasonably well equipped and very clean throughout. Our hosts also provided bottles of juice and water, plus nice sweet treats free of charge which was a nice touch. There is a nice beach within walking distance and there are also shops nearby. The views from the entrance to the apartment are breathtaking. It was not too far to walk to the old town, It took us less than 30 minutes at a fairly slow pace. It was only about a 10 minute walk down to the waterfront, which is quite nice as well.
What could be improved: It was a bit tricky to get our car parked, as the road below the apartment is a one-way system. You need to be a very confident driver to manoeuvre your car into a parking spot. The apartment was nicely equipped. They prepared even a Jaffa cake and some strawberry drink in the fridge which was well appreciated. Kitchen has got every kichen appliances (fridge, freezer, kettle, oven, washing machine) and plenty of cutlery. Bathroom got its own wash machine. Air con was also lifesaving in the heat.
The view was amazing to the bay so I had to take a shot every time I arrived or left.
The apartment was really close to the main line of buses. They could also pick you up for daily tours easily in front of the Hotel Porto. There was a Tommy supermarket in walking distance.
What could be improved: The owner had the access code to the key storing box. I had to make phone calls to receive it.
There was no shampoo in the bathroom.
There were lots of steps to access the apartment from the street level then to go down to the bay level so it could be physically challenging for physically handicapped travellers. It was what I afford, I' m not pretentious. 20 min until Pile Gate by foot. Nice place. Very good communication with the host.

Very spacious and nicely decorated. Everything you need is in the flat. The owner was very nice and even left chocolate and juice for us 🙂 Wi-Fi worked well. Nice views.
What could be improved: The only thing was the stair but they are everywhere in Croatia. Other than that a great flat!
