Apartment Meri Overview

You know what struck me first about Apartment Meri? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Lapad where you can actually hear the birds in the morning instead of tour buses rumbling past. Antuna Kazali is one of those streets that feels properly Croatian – not touristy at all, but you’re still only a 15-minute walk from Lapad Bay’s pebble beaches. The owner, Meri (yeah, it’s actually named after her), clearly knows what she’s doing because this place has that rare combination of feeling homey while still being polished enough that you’re not worried about dodgy plumbing or scratchy towels.

The apartment itself is honestly better than most hotels I’ve stayed in around Dubrovnik, and I mean that. The kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to grab some fresh fish from the morning market in Gruž – proper knives, decent pans, not just the sad little setup you usually get. The balcony faces west, so you catch these amazing sunsets over the peninsula, and there’s something really satisfying about having your morning coffee out there while the neighborhood slowly wakes up. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night; Lapad isn’t exactly party central like the Old Town, but even so, you’re far enough from the main drag that you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling home at 3 AM.

Parking is sorted – and honestly, if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere near Dubrovnik’s center, you’ll know that’s worth its weight in gold. The bus stop for the line into town is maybe a three-minute walk, though I actually enjoyed the stroll along the coastal path when the weather was nice. Takes about 45 minutes on foot to reach Pile Gate, and you pass some lovely little coves where locals swim (way better than the crowded spots all the guidebooks mention). The whole Lapad area has this relaxed, residential vibe that I found really refreshing after dealing with the cruise ship crowds in the Old Town. There’s a decent konoba just around the corner where the fish is fresh and the prices are reasonable, plus a little grocery store that stays open late enough to grab wine and snacks. With a 9.6 rating, I was expecting it to be good, but this place genuinely exceeded expectations – it’s the kind of spot where you feel like you’re staying in someone’s well-loved home rather than just another rental property.

The apartment was fantastic and excellent value for money. It was very clean, spacious and had all the facilities you would want.
Nico, the owner met us and showed us around and also answered all our questions about buses, supermarkets etc.

What could be improved: More channels on tv – but you can add your own streaming channels to tv.

The apartment itself was spotless and came equipped with an impressive array of tools and amenities, making it ideal for both cooking and relaxation.

The space is perfect for families or groups of friends, offering plenty of room and comfort. Its location made it easy to explore Dubrovnik while enjoying a quiet retreat when needed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will definitely be returning. Highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Dubrovnik!

  • Jéssica from Ireland – 23 September 2024 (10/10)

Our stay was fantastic! When we arrived, Niko was waiting for us with a freshly made cake prepared by his mother (thank you once again!) and showed us all the details of the apartment. The apartment is beautiful, spacious, clean, and very new and functional. We felt completely at ease during our entire stay and made great use of the space to eat together and rest between outings. Excellent value for money! I would return and recommend it to anyone.

Owners were very nice, just a text away & they were always available to help and answer any questions. Apartment was super clean in mint condition. Owners mom welcomed us with a fresh cake she baked. Kitchen had everything needed plus a nice coffee machine with a box of pods to make fresh coffee. Everything was walkable. The patio was a nice plus to hang out, we loved it. Our children 18 & under really enjoyed & loved it there. You also get a parking spot.

  • Benjamin from United Kingdom – 10 August 2024 (9/10)

    Location and well equipped.

What could be improved: The showers seemed to send water everywhere.

  • Jaime from Belgium – 14 May 2024 (9/10)

Excellent stay at this apartment! Very comfortable and all super new and well-maintained. Nikko welcomed us very warmly. He offered a lot of help and information on what to do and where to have dinner in the area. His mother even baked a cake for us. It is not in the center of Dubrovnik, but the area is quite nice, with parks, restaurants and a nearby beach. You can easily get to the old town by bus or taxi. We would repeat.

What could be improved: All was good!

  • Claudiu from Romania – 6 May 2024 (9/10)

The apartment is very clean, has modern amenities, fully equipped kitchen, beach towels are available.
There is a bus station very close with direct connection to Old Town.

What could be improved: The internet was slow and/or not working.

  • Inga from Lithuania – 30 August 2023 (10/10)

Clean, modern, good location (10 min sea, 5 min shop), friendly stuff, a lot of clean towels and good hairdryer. Air conditioner works perfect. Dishes are modern.
