Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Dubrovnik, and Apartment Milic on Sinjska street is honestly one of those finds that makes you feel like you’ve cracked some sort of local code. It’s tucked away in this residential area that most tourists never see – you know, where actual Croatian families live and kids play football in the small courtyards between buildings.
The thing about this place is that it’s far enough from the Old Town chaos that you can actually sleep at night (trust me, if you’ve ever tried to rest near Stradun during summer, you’ll appreciate this), but close enough that you’re not spending a fortune on taxis or wearing out your shoes. I mean, it’s maybe a 15-minute walk to Pile Gate, and you’ll pass this little bakery on the way that does these incredible burek pastries – the owner’s been there for like 30 years and barely speaks English, but he’ll remember your order after the second day. That’s the kind of neighborhood this is.
What really got me about Apartment Milic was how… well, normal it felt. The building itself is typical Dubrovnik residential – white stone, green shutters, that slightly lived-in look that new developments just can’t replicate. Inside, it’s clean and functional without trying too hard to impress. The apartment we had faced away from the street, so mornings were actually quiet except for the occasional delivery truck (which, honestly, happens everywhere in Croatia around 7 AM anyway). The kitchen had everything you’d need if you wanted to skip the tourist restaurants – there’s a Konzum supermarket about three blocks away where locals shop, and the prices will make you wonder why you ever ate near the city walls.
I think what surprised me most was how the owner, Milic himself, actually seemed to care about whether we were comfortable. Not in that pushy, asking-for-five-stars way, but genuinely. He left us a handwritten note with his mobile number and these specific recommendations for restaurants that weren’t in any guidebook I’d seen. One was this family-run konoba up in Lapad where they do the best black risotto I’ve had outside of someone’s grandmother’s kitchen.
The whole experience felt refreshingly unpolished in the best possible way. No marble lobbies or uniformed staff, just a solid, clean place to stay run by someone who knows the city. You’ll share the building with Croatian families, which means you might hear someone’s TV in the evening or smell coffee brewing next door in the morning – but that’s part of what makes it feel real. Plus, parking is actually possible here (though you’ll still need to be strategic about it), and the neighborhood has that evening ritual where everyone comes out to chat with their neighbors around sunset.
Honestly, if you’re the type of traveler who wants to experience Dubrovnik without constantly being reminded that you’re in a tourist bubble, this is exactly what you’re looking for. It’s not fancy, but it’s authentic in a way that’s getting harder and harder to find.

Great host at great location – Danail from Bulgaria – 29 June 2025 (9/10)
The host lady was great, super hospitable. She gave us detailed instructions on how to quickly reach the old town by foot and return by bus, and it worked fine. The apartment has a great view of the sea. Each room has A/C. The location of the apartment is excellent.
A wonderful stay in a lovely, well-located flat with sea view – Maha from Austria – 14 June 2025 (10/10)
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely flat! Our amazing hostess made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived and provided full support throughout our stay. Her kindness and helpfulness truly made a difference!
The flat itself is very nice, with a beautiful sea view and just a 3-minute walk to the bus station, making it super convenient to reach the Old Town. If you're arriving by car, it's also easily accessible, we highly recommend it!Superb – Chok from United Kingdom – 20 September 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: The difficulty of by walk approachAmazing Apartment – Beautiful Sunset View – Withya from United Kingdom – 21 September 2022 (10/10)
The apartment was amazing and very spacious with all the essential things. The view was absolutely stunning from the main room balcony…amazing view of the sunset!!! The view from the main door is beautiful too. The host (Jardanka) was so welcoming and gave us some local homemade Cherry liquor and loads of information of how to make the most of our time in Dubrovnik.
What could be improved: It is a short walk to Old-town with loads of stairs (which is the case for most of Dubrovnik) but very manageable.長期間の滞在だと、さらに満喫出来るアパートだと感じた。 – Nakanowatari from Hungary – 21 April 2025 (10/10)
What could be improved: ⚫︎シャワーで長い時間お湯を使い続けると、お湯が出にくくなる。
しかし、大した問題ではない。Vi havde et par dejlige dage i Dubrovnic. Vi havde et par gode gåture ned til byen og stejlt op igen med mange trapper. – Susanne from Denmark – 3 October 2024 (10/10)
