You know what caught me off guard about Apartment Natasha? The location is actually perfect – and I mean that in the best possible way. It’s tucked away on Župska street in Ploče, which honestly sounds like nothing special until you realize you’re about a 10-minute walk from the Old Town walls but completely away from the tourist chaos. I stayed there last September and could actually sleep in without being woken up by cruise ship crowds shuffling past at 7 AM.

The apartment itself feels like staying at someone’s well-maintained family place rather than a sterile hotel room. Natasha (yes, there’s an actual Natasha) clearly knows what travelers need – the kitchen has proper coffee-making supplies, not just those sad instant packets, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your clothes. The bathroom’s small but functional, and honestly, the water pressure is better than half the four-star places I’ve stayed at along the Adriatic coast. What really impressed me was how quiet it gets at night. Ploče isn’t exactly sleepy, but you’re just removed enough from Stradun that you won’t hear every late-night reveler stumbling home.

Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they’re there – you’re actually closer to some of Dubrovnik’s better spots than if you stayed right in the Old Town. The local market on Gruška is maybe five minutes away, and if you want proper Croatian food without the tourist markup, there’s this little konoba called Pantarul that locals actually go to (it’s about a seven-minute walk). The bus stop for getting to Lapad or the beaches is right there, and – this matters if you’re arriving with luggage – you can actually get a taxi to drop you pretty close to the door. Try doing that if you’re staying inside the city walls. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there; it’s not luxury, but it’s exactly what you want when you’re exploring Dubrovnik and need a comfortable base that doesn’t feel like a hotel assembly line.
