You know what struck me first about Apartment Nea? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Lapad, but honestly, that’s exactly what makes it perfect. I mean, you’re staying in an actual neighborhood where locals live – not some tourist bubble – and Ulica Antuna Kazali is one of those tree-lined streets where you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of cruise ship announcements.
The apartment itself feels like staying at a friend’s place, if that friend happened to have really good taste and knew how to make guests comfortable. The owner clearly gets what travelers actually need – there’s proper counter space in the kitchen (you’d be surprised how many places skimp on this), the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the whole place, and the bed is one of those where you wake up not feeling like you wrestled with a brick all night. The balcony overlooks the neighborhood, and I loved having my coffee out there in the mornings, watching the locals head off to work. It’s got that authentic Croatian residential vibe that you just can’t get in the Old Town hotels.
Location-wise, this is where it gets really good. Lapad is honestly the best-kept secret for staying in Dubrovnik – you’re about a 15-minute bus ride from the Old Town (the buses run constantly), but you’re also walking distance to some gorgeous beaches that most tourists never discover. There’s this little path down to the water that starts maybe 200 meters from the apartment, and you’ll find yourself on these rocky coves where you can swim without fighting crowds. The local konoba just around the corner serves better seafood than half the overpriced places in the Old Town, and the morning market nearby is where you’ll want to grab fresh figs and cheese if you’re planning to eat in. Parking can be a bit tricky in summer – it’s street parking and fills up during the day – but honestly, once you’re settled, you won’t need your car much anyway. The whole area quiets down beautifully in the evenings, which is such a relief after spending the day navigating the tourist madness downtown. That 9.6 rating makes total sense when you experience how thoughtfully everything’s been set up here.

Fantastic host who was very accommodating to our requirements. We were provided with great local restaurant recommendations along with other tips on the area. We even had a home made cake made by his mum waiting for us on arrival which was still warm.
