Hotel Description
You know what hits you first when you walk into Apartment Old Garden Dubrovnik? The smell of jasmine drifting in from the actual garden – and I mean, this isn’t some tiny courtyard with a few sad plants. There’s this genuinely lovely green space that feels like such a luxury when you’re staying right in the thick of Dubrovnik’s old town madness. The building itself sits on Kamenarska ulica, which honestly took me a minute to find the first time (it’s one of those narrow stone streets that all look the same until you get your bearings), but once you do, you’ll realize you’re perfectly positioned between the main drag and the quieter residential pockets where actual locals live.
The apartments themselves are… well, they’re what you’d hope for in a place with a 9.4 rating, but done without all the sterile hotel nonsense. Mine had these thick stone walls that kept everything blissfully cool even in July – though fair warning, that also means your phone signal gets a bit sketchy in some corners. The owner, Marko, actually lives nearby and he’s the type who’ll text you restaurant recommendations at 10 PM because he just thought of the perfect spot for tomorrow’s lunch. The kitchenette is compact but functional (I made coffee every morning and simple meals when I got tired of restaurant prices), and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showers that actually works properly. What I really appreciated was how they’d thought about the little stuff – decent WiFi, blackout curtains that actually block the morning sun, and enough outlets that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and using the hairdryer.
Here’s the thing about this location that you won’t fully appreciate until you’re there: you’re close enough to walk to Stradun in about eight minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the cruise ship crowds stumbling past your window at all hours. The narrow streets around here come alive in the evenings with locals heading to dinner, and there’s this little bakery about two blocks away where I’d grab pastries most mornings – way better than anything near the main tourist spots and half the price. Parking is tricky (I mean, it’s Dubrovnik’s old town, so duh), but Marko sorted out a spot for us about a five-minute walk away. The garden becomes this perfect little retreat in the late afternoon when the stone streets are still radiating heat but you can sit under the fig tree with a glass of wine and actually hear yourself think. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night just because leaving feels premature.

Fantastic location close to the city walls – Emma from United Kingdom – 26 June 2025 (9/10)
It is a fantastic location- about 15 minutes to the old town.
It has everything you could need and the host was lovely and explained everything. He also left us water and apple juice which was greatly appreciated.
Early check was also given free as charge which was really helpful – definitely recommend

We loved having breakfast in the garden and the characterful traditional furniture.
What could be improved: It was a bit difficult to hang up our bathroom towels.Fabulous – wish we could have stayed longer – highly recommend – Julie from New Zealand – 10 June 2025 (10/10)
The host was very responsive to enquiries and allowed us to leave our luggage before check in time. There were lots of little extras provided including home made wine!

Nice apartment but in shared yard. Everything was fine. The place is close to every part of the town. – Michal from Slovakia – 17 November 2024 (9/10)
Very beautiful garden with sea view. Attentive host. Clean and a lot of toiletries for use. We spend a week there and worked two days. Wi-Fi was good.
What could be improved: Not much kitchen equipment is available for cooking but we could handle it somehow. The apartment is not completely private as yard is shared with the family living there so people can be passing by the apartment window.Great apartment had everything we needed for our stay owner was very helpful. – John from United Kingdom – 25 October 2024 (9/10)
Had everything we needed
What could be improved: NothingA very comfortable stay in a beautiful place – Guilhermina from United Kingdom – 12 October 2024 (10/10)
The apartment was beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. The host was extremely kind and responded very quickly to any questions/requests we asked/had. The seating arrangement in the garden was an added bonus.
What could be improved: Perhaps we could do with a bit more worktop surface in the kitchen. However, it did not stop us from preparing our meal, we adapted and managed very well.Superb – Basil from United States – 4 October 2024 (9/10)
We loved our stay at the apartment. The room was sizeable, well-equipped and very charming. The host was wonderful and very friendly. He was helpful in getting us to the airport when we had to leave as well. The property is a quick downhill walk to the old town and very safe. We had a very memorable time and would love to return one day.
Perfect holiday home – Heikki from Finland – 20 September 2024 (10/10)
Apartment was very clean and quiet with all the necessary amenities, only thing missing was bread knife.
The hosts were nice and helpful, they live upstairs.
What could be improved: Only negative thing there is a lot of steps to climb to apartment but that is the case anywhere in Dubrovnik.
So if you have trouble with your feet, maybe that's not the place for you, that goes for Dubrovnik too…
