Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and honestly? Apartment Olga in Lapad is one of those finds that makes you want to keep it secret. It’s tucked away on the third floor of a building on Ulica kralja Tomislava – yeah, I know, the address sounds fancy but it’s actually this quiet residential street that most tourists never discover. The thing is, Lapad is where you want to be if you’re smart about visiting Dubrovnik. You’re away from the cruise ship madness of the Old Town, but you can still catch the bus there in like fifteen minutes.

What struck me first was how Olga (and yes, she’s a real person, not some corporate entity) has this knack for making a space feel like home without trying too hard. The apartment itself is spotless – I mean, Croatian grandmothers have nothing on this level of cleanliness. The morning light comes through these big windows that face toward the peninsula, and you can actually hear the sea if you open them, which is something you don’t get in most city center places. The kitchen is properly equipped too, not just some sad mini-fridge situation. I actually cooked breakfast a few times because there’s this little market on Šetalište kralja Zvonimira where locals shop – you know you’ve found the right spot when you’re the only foreigner buying produce at 8 AM.

The location is what really makes this place special though. You’re a five-minute walk from Lapad Bay, which honestly has some of the best swimming in the area – way better than the rocky beaches everyone raves about near the Old Town. The water’s clearer, there’s actual sand, and you can rent a kayak without fighting crowds. Plus, you’re right by the main promenade where people do their evening walks (this is a big deal in Croatian culture, trust me). There’s this restaurant called Konavoski Dvori about ten minutes away that serves the best lamb under the bell you’ll find outside of the countryside. Parking can be a bit tricky – it’s street parking and locals know all the tricks – but Olga actually gave me some insider tips that saved me a lot of headaches. The whole area gets pretty quiet after 10 PM, which is perfect if you’re trying to recover from exploring the Old Town walls in the heat. I mean, you’ll sleep like a baby here, then wake up ready to tackle another day of sightseeing without feeling like you’re trapped in a tourist bubble.

  This apartment was a fantastic choice! Modern, clean, and well-located, just a short walk from the Uvala Lapad promenade with plenty of activities. The balcony was perfect for relaxing with a view of the harbor. Dario, the host, was very helpful. Highly recommend!
