You know what caught me off guard about Pero&Mika? I was expecting some cramped apartment rental, but this place actually feels like a proper retreat. The location on Ulica od Križa is honestly perfect – you’re close enough to hear the morning bustle from the old town (maybe a 15-minute walk down the hill), but far enough up that you escape the cruise ship crowds that flood Stradun every afternoon. The hosts clearly put thought into this place, and that 8.9 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there.

The swimming pool is the real game-changer here, especially if you’re visiting during those sweltering July and August months when even the locals are complaining about the heat. I mean, after spending hours wandering around those stone walls – which are gorgeous but basically turn into an oven by midday – coming back to take a dip feels like pure luxury. The pool area has this relaxed vibe where you can actually hear birds chirping instead of tour guides with megaphones, which is… well, it’s kind of rare in Dubrovnik these days. The apartment itself is spacious enough that you don’t feel like you’re living on top of each other, and the kitchen is properly equipped if you want to grab some fresh fish from the morning market near Gruž harbor and cook it yourself.

What I really appreciated was how the place strikes this balance between being tourist-friendly but not touristy, if that makes sense. The neighborhood feels genuinely Croatian – you’ll see locals walking their dogs in the evening, kids playing in the small park nearby, that sort of thing. Parking can be a bit tricky (honestly, that’s just Dubrovnik for you), but there’s usually space if you’re not too picky about walking an extra block or two. The hosts are the type who actually respond to messages quickly and seem to know their stuff about the area – they pointed me toward this little konoba about ten minutes away that I never would have found otherwise. Sure, it’s not right in the heart of the old town, but frankly, that’s a blessing. You get the full Dubrovnik experience without feeling like you’re sleeping in a theme park, and that pool… seriously, after a day of climbing those city walls, you’ll understand why this place books up fast during peak season.

  Peter was a great host! He went out of his way to show us to the apartment and gave some great restaurant recommendations. The apartment is in an excellent location, just a 12 minutes walk from old town.

  The location is quite good and the sightseeing is very nice. It is a pity that we went there in Winter, we couldn’t use the swimming pool. The house is also clean and the landlord is kind and nice.

  Pero picked us up and took us to airport when we left. Charge was reasonable. Condo is nice and easy to get to old town.

  The apartment was well set up and comfortable. Excellent location. Loved the outdoor area and the pool at the end of the day. Short walk into old city.

  What could be improved: We enjoyed everything, but we were prior warned (through reviews) that there were a good few flights of stairs walking back from the old city. It wasn't a problem for us, although we did catch a taxi back once 🤣.
