Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and honestly? This little gem on Zrinsko Frankopanska caught me completely off guard. The name’s a mouthful – Apartment Ragusa Palace 2 Taraca – but don’t let that intimidate you. It’s actually tucked away on this quiet residential street that most tourists never find, which is exactly why I love it. You’re maybe a seven-minute walk from the Old Town walls, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the cruise ship crowds stumbling around at midnight.
The thing that got me right away was how the owner clearly gets what travelers actually need. I mean, the apartment itself feels like someone’s stylish Croatian grandmother decided to upgrade everything while keeping the charm intact. The terrace – and trust me, this is where you’ll spend most of your time – has this perfect view that’s not quite postcard-perfect but somehow better because it’s real. You can see bits of the old city, some red rooftops, and if you crane your neck just right, there’s a slice of the Adriatic that catches the light around sunset. The Wi-Fi actually works (I know, revolutionary for the Balkans), and there’s proper air conditioning, which you’ll appreciate if you’re visiting between June and September when Dubrovnik turns into a beautiful but sweaty sauna.
What really sold me was the location’s practicality – something you don’t realize until you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. There’s a solid grocery store about three blocks down where the locals shop, not those tourist traps near Stradun where a bottle of water costs more than dinner. The morning bread runs are easy, and you know what? The neighborhood bakery on the corner makes these incredible burek that I’m still dreaming about. Parking’s tricky in this part of town (it always is in Dubrovnik), but the host sorted that out without the usual Croatian shrug and “figure it out yourself” attitude I’ve encountered elsewhere. The whole check-in experience was refreshingly straightforward – no drama, no last-minute surprises, just someone who clearly runs a tight ship and cares about the details. At night, it’s properly quiet, which is rare when you’re this close to the action. That 9.4 rating isn’t just tourist enthusiasm – it’s earned through the kind of thoughtful touches that make you want to extend your stay and actually feel like you’re living in Dubrovnik rather than just passing through it.

The best view you can have over the old town.
It was clean and the kitchen had everything you need .This is a spotlessly clean apartment with an excellent view over the old city and a lovely balcony – Louise from United Kingdom – 17 June 2025 (10/10)
This is a spotlessly clean apartment with an excellent view over the old city and a lovely balcony to sit out on. Water pressure in the shower was great!
What could be improved: Nothing could have been better really.Dubrovnik 2025 – Joanne from United Kingdom – 12 June 2025 (9/10)
Views amazing, close to old town. Close to supermarket bakery and nice cocktail bar
What could be improved: Steps. Too many for me. Would be no problem for fit people and those with no mobility issues.Would recommend – Robin from Australia – 5 October 2024 (8/10)
Excellent location
Apart from hundreds of steps ( usual though for the location) it was a great 10 minute walk to the old town
Apartment had plenty of linen and towels
Lovely views
What could be improved: Lots of steps
Was difficult with suitcases unless very fit
Would have been nice to have a washing machine but laundry was not so farA room with a view…And what a view! – Vidur from India – 5 October 2023 (10/10)
Perfectly located at the edge of the old town. Making it easy to get away from the buzz and crowds there. The view from the balcony was spectacular, looking out at the old town rooftops and the Adriatic sea beyond. Enjoyed many a coffee sitting out there in my private space. Matea and Ana were wonderful hosts. Very responsive to anything we needed. Loved the fruit trees in the yard behind. Neat and clean and highly recommended to stay. You won't regret it.
What could be improved: It's a long way up from the street via a flight of steps. Okay to do when you're not lugging suitcases up and down.Beautiful, modern apartment with panoramic view of the old town and the sea. – Nicola from Australia – 15 June 2023 (9/10)
Apartment is in a great location, set up high, close to the old town. (Quite a few steps up!!!)
Amazing view over Dubrovnik and the Adriatic Sea, viewed from a large balcony.
The apartment is very new, clean, modern and the kitchenette is very well equipped.
Small issues were immediately addressed by the owner. Communication was excellent.
What could be improved: A washing machine, or access to one, would have made it perfect as we stayed for 5 nights.Exceptional – Krzysztof from Poland – 2 October 2022 (10/10)
Everything was perfect, equipment, view, cleanliness, Matea is an angel !
Fabulous – Edel from Ireland – 17 September 2022 (9/10)
Loved our time in Dubrovnik.Beautiful apartment
Very comfortable.lovely views of town below.Very good – Angela from United Kingdom – 11 October 2024 (8/10)
The apartment is so convenient for Dubrovnik's Old Town, and it only takes 10 minutes to walk there, so long as you can cope with several steps. There's a bakery and grocery very nearby which can be handy and the area feels very safe. The apartment is modern, spacious, and functional. Favourite area was the balcony where we enjoyed watching the beautiful sunsets. Our host Matea was very helpful and responded to queries very quickly. We felt the apartment was value for money and would stay there again if we ever go back to beautiful Dubrovnik.
What could be improved: The second bedroom has no view. Not a major problem as the lounge balcony makes up for it, but it might bother some people. The apartment enhanced our enjoyment of Dubrovnik – a wonderful town! – Marilyn from United Kingdom – 24 October 2022 (9/10)
The spacious, well equipped, wonderfully clean apartment was fantastic. The promised views from the generous terrace were beautiful. The proximity to the Pile Gate was excellent.
We appreciated the offer of clean sheets/towels during our week's stay. The owner's responsiveness to a couple of queries was lovely – Thankyou.
What could be improved: A couple of very small things, the fridge is really quite old. Access to another rubbish bag or two would have been helpful accompanied by clearer information about rubbish disposal. Most significantly as an older traveler it was a shock to discover the minimum 98 stairs to get to the apartment (especially with our luggage), a downside of the wonderful view!! From the Pile Gate the most direct route to the apartment is 325 stairs (including the aforementioned 98) or a fairly steep road climb before the 98 stairs.
