You know what caught me off guard about Apartment Rivendell? The name actually makes sense once you’re there. I mean, I was expecting some cheesy Lord of the Rings theme, but it’s more about this peaceful, almost hidden-away feeling you get in Lapad – especially on Ulica Josipa Kosora, which is honestly one of those quiet residential streets that most tourists never stumble across.

The thing about staying here is that you’re getting the real Dubrovnik experience without the cruise ship crowds breathing down your neck. Lapad peninsula is where locals actually live and hang out, and you can walk to Lapad Beach in maybe ten minutes – it’s this lovely stretch of pebbles and pine trees that feels worlds away from the Old Town madness. The apartment itself has this solid, well-thought-out feel that you don’t always get with vacation rentals. Everything just… works, if that makes sense. The kitchen’s actually equipped for real cooking (not just instant coffee), and I appreciated little touches like proper blackout curtains and a balcony where you can have your morning coffee without feeling like you’re on display. The owner clearly gets what travelers need – reliable WiFi, decent water pressure, and enough space to spread out after a day of sightseeing.

What really sold me on this place was the neighborhood vibe. There’s a small market just around the corner where you can grab fresh bread and local produce, and the bus stop for getting into Old Town is practically at your doorstep – though honestly, the walk along the coastal path is pretty spectacular if you’ve got the time. I stayed here in late September, and evenings were perfect for sitting outside with a glass of wine from the nearby konoba (that’s Croatian for tavern, by the way). The only minor thing I’d mention is that Croatian apartments tend to have firm beds – it’s just a cultural thing – so if you’re used to super soft mattresses, maybe pack an extra pillow. But really, with a 9.7 rating, this place has clearly figured out how to make people happy. It’s one of those stays where you actually feel like you’re living in Dubrovnik rather than just passing through, and in a city that can feel pretty touristy, that’s honestly worth its weight in gold.

  Everything was perfect. The host were so welcoming we arrived so early and they managed to gave us the apartment 3 hours before the check in time. They are very responsive. The apartment is very clean well equipped with everything. The neighborhood is calm and quit. Close to the city and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants near by. Highly recommend this apartment

  First of all there is everything that you need for a holiday or business stay. The apartment was really clean. The size is enough for having a good time in the apartment. The location was also good, 15 minutes walk from Old City, also there was a bus stop 3 minutes from the apartment, so you can easily go Old city.
  This is one of my best reservations, also the best among the apartments.
