Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “Apartment Romantika,” I rolled my eyes a little. The name sounds like something from a cheesy romance novel, you know? But after spending a few days there, I actually get it. This place on Kardinala Stepinca street has this unexpectedly charming thing going on that somehow justifies the slightly over-the-top name.

What struck me first was how quiet it is for being so close to everything. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from Pile Gate (the main entrance to Old Town), but the street itself is surprisingly peaceful. The owner – really lovely guy, by the way – explained that this particular stretch is mostly residential, so you don’t get the constant stream of tour groups that plague some of the closer accommodations. You can actually sleep in without being woken up by someone’s 6 AM photo session outside your window. The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel room. There’s this lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake – real coffee cups instead of those tiny hotel ones, a proper kitchen where you can actually cook (crucial when you realize how expensive eating out gets in Dubrovnik), and windows that open wide to let in that Mediterranean breeze. The décor leans romantic without being suffocating about it – some soft lighting, nice textiles, but nothing that’ll make you feel like you’re sleeping in a Valentine’s Day card.

Here’s what I really appreciated: the practical stuff just works. The Wi-Fi is solid (I was working remotely part of the time), the shower has actual water pressure, and there’s decent storage space for your things. Small details, but they matter when you’re settling in for more than a night or two. The host was genuinely helpful with local recommendations too – not just the obvious tourist spots, but things like where to buy groceries without paying tourist prices, and which bus routes actually make sense. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area (honestly, it’s tricky everywhere in Dubrovnik), but there are spots available on the street if you time it right, and the host knows the ins and outs of the local parking situation.

The location really is the sweet spot – close enough to walk everywhere you want to go, but far enough from the cruise ship chaos that you can decompress in the evenings. When the Old Town gets overwhelming (and it will, especially during summer), you can retreat here and feel like you’re in a different world. Plus, you’re right near some excellent local restaurants that most tourists never find. That 9.5 rating isn’t just inflated review scores – it reflects what happens when someone actually cares about the details and creates a space that feels authentic rather than manufactured.

  This is a self-contained annexe to the owners' house. It looks new, and is equipped and decorated to a high standard. The owners were very friendly and helpful when we arrived and when we left, including waiting with us for 20 mins for a taxi to arrive. We tried two of the restaurants they recommended, which were both very good. The location in Lapad is 5 minutes walk from the bus stop to the old town, and Lapad beach and a supermarket are also in walking distance. The balcony was nice for breakfast and in the evenings. As noted elsewhere the layout of the bathroom is unusual, but it was fine for us once we got used to it.

  We had a wonderful stay at this vacation apartment. The owners gave us a very warm welcome and were always willing to help with any questions or assist with our luggage. The location is excellent, being close to the bus station that takes you to the old town and just a short walk from the beach.
  
  The area around the apartment is quiet and peaceful, which was ideal for us to relax and feel right at home. The apartment itself is beautiful and clean, featuring a nice, hot shower and comfortable beds. We highly recommend it!

  Apartment Romantika is stylish, comfortable and clean. The outdoor areas are as charming and pleasant as the indoor. Its location in the Lapad beach area is perfect for a relaxing stay in Dubrovnik, with easy access to coffee shops, restaurants, bars, walking trails, groceries, local clothing stores, as well as access to well-known tourist highlights. Merit and Vedran are delightful hosts, willing to accommodate my early arrival and helpful with tips for visiting the area. The washer and dryer came in very handy.

  the hospitality , the location(nearby the sea, about 45 minutes walking to the old city or about 15 min with bus. the apartment was very clean, quiet area, enjoyable walking nearby(forest, quiet, safe, very nice boardwalk ),good pillow.

  Our hosts where very friendly, they live next door and do everything to make you feel at home. The house is wonderful, spotlessly clean. We were very happy to stay there.
  Just one thing you need to know: the entrance of the house is 2 levels below the street, as the house is on the hill. The walk to the walking centre of Lapad and bus station is short and easy.

  This was a home away from home for us. Apartment had everything that you can think of. More than anything the hosts were amazing, absolutely lovely couple who went up and beyond to help us in every possible way. Offered us drinks as we walked in and gave us advice in where not to get scammed. Apartment was tastefully decorated and extremely clean. Had fresh white linen draped even on couches for a clean stay! Excellent location with free parking

  Wonderful hosts, everything went smooth and uncomplicated. Beautiful little apartment in top location. Just a short walk to a local promenade, restaurants, supermarket, pharmacy. Connection to old town by bus quite easy. Excellent wifi, and a Smart TV to watch Netflix.
  
  What could be improved: The only reason not to give this apartment a 10-star rating was the slightly inconvenient layout of the kitchen (need to walk around eating area to reach the sink, makes cooking a bit complicated – or a team effort 😀 ) and the fact that the toilet is kind of in the corridor… We do understand though that it is hard to fit everything one needs on a tight space, and the inconvenience is minor.
