I mean, you’re literally standing in the heart of Dubrovnik’s Old Town — and I’m talking about the real heart, not some tourist-brochure version of it. The building itself has that authentic Dalmatian stone charm, but what really hits you is the location. You’re on one of the main pedestrian streets, which means everything you came to Dubrovnik to see is basically at your doorstep.
Honestly, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Dubrovnik, and this location is pretty much unbeatable. Široka ulica runs right through the historic center, so you can walk to the city walls in about two minutes, hit up the famous Stradun in even less time, and — here’s what I love — you’re close enough to everything but just off the main drag so it’s not completely overrun with day-trippers. The couples who rate this place so highly (apparently 9.7 out of 10) aren’t wrong — there’s something romantic about stepping out your door and being surrounded by centuries-old limestone buildings and narrow cobblestone alleys.
The rooms at Apartment & Room Joy are exactly what you’d expect from a well-run four-star property in this part of Croatia — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed to work with the historic building’s constraints. You know how some Old Town accommodations can feel cramped or awkwardly laid out? That’s not really an issue here. The apartments give you proper space to spread out, which is actually pretty rare when you’re staying right in the medieval center. Air conditioning works well (trust me, you’ll need it in summer), and the bathrooms are modern without feeling out of place.
What I really appreciate about staying here is how it puts you in the rhythm of actual Dubrovnik life. Sure, you’re surrounded by tourist attractions, but you’re also on a street where locals actually live and work. There’s a great little bakery just around the corner where you can grab fresh burek for breakfast, and you’ll find yourself naturally discovering those hidden restaurants and wine bars that don’t make it into most guidebooks. The apartment setup means you can store some groceries if you want — which honestly makes sense when you’re paying Old Town restaurant prices for every meal.
That 8.3 rating and the near-perfect location score of 9.9 really tell the story here. Apartment & Room Joy delivers on the one thing that matters most in Dubrovnik — putting you right where you want to be. You’re not dealing with shuttle buses or long walks with your luggage over slippery stone streets. Instead, you’re waking up in the middle of one of Europe’s most beautiful medieval cities, and everything from the morning coffee run to the evening stroll along the walls becomes effortless. For couples especially, there’s something pretty special about having this kind of authentic Old Town experience without sacrificing comfort.

What could be improved: The advert is correctly written but felt the pictures are misleading!! You need to check exactly what you are booking!
We were expecting some cooking facilities.
The location is absolutely perfect. Not up a million stairs, close to the Pile Bridge and all the shops.
What could be improved: It was not very stocked. If I wanted to actually cook something, there wasn’t enough equipment to do so. There was a towel warmer rack on the bathroom wall to hang clothes to dry, but I wish there was a proper drying rack, as that towel warmer location was not ideal and it’s not the intended purpose. Even though the location was amazing, it was too close to the restaurants and quite loud late into the evening, making it impossible to open windows while sleeping. But that was not a deal breaker. The pillows were all memory foam and too hard, I wished there was softer and thinner pillows. Ended up using the small decorative pillows from the sofa.

The location is everything. You are smack bang in the middle of the Old Town. It's a great base for exploring and also loads of day trips and excursions begin just outside Pile Gate which you are literally 5 minutes away from. The room has air conditioning and a clothes horse. It's a comfortable basic space but it did the job for a 3 night get away. It's great to explore the old town and be able to go back to rest or use the bathroom.
What could be improved: The 'city view' was facing a wall.
Location was perfect for us. The apartment had everything you would need. It was very clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

The room and bathroom are a little dated.
The noise from the neighbours on one occasion was really bad, and we struggled to sleep, but there was no noise from outside or the restaurant.
The location is perfect! The room had plenty of storage space for luggage. Very comfortable!
What could be improved: I thought I was renting the apartment. There was no option to select the Room Joy which I received. The other renters in the apartment were loud three nights in a row and did not abide by the quiet hours. Neighbors did complain about the noise.
location is perfect its right around the corner from the main strip and the bus and ferry station were only 10 minute walk. lovely restaurants and wine bar downstairs

Perfectly located in the center of the Dubrovnik old town. Up 2 flights of stairs and you will find the modern renovated apartment, clean with all amenities. Air conditioning was highly appreciated during our summer stay. the Host very reactive, friendly and helpful. they even had netflix!! we would come back again!
