You know what struck me first about Apartment Lukre? The terrace – and I mean, when you’re staying in Dubrovnik’s old town area, outdoor space that’s actually usable is pretty rare. This place sits on Ulica don Frana Bulića, which honestly took me a second to pronounce correctly, but it’s one of those streets where you feel like you’re living among locals rather than just passing through as a tourist.

The apartment itself has that authentic Croatian feel without being overly rustic or trying too hard. I mean, it’s clean and modern where it counts, but there’s character in the details – thick stone walls that actually keep things cool during those brutal July afternoons, and windows that frame the kind of views you’d expect from a 4-star place. The terrace though, that’s where you’ll spend your mornings with coffee, probably planning your assault on the city walls before the crowds hit around 10 AM. I found myself out there most evenings too, honestly, because the street noise dies down after dinner and you can hear the Adriatic in the distance.

What I really appreciated was how the hosts seem to get what travelers actually need. Check-in was smooth – none of that awkward waiting around with your luggage while they “prepare the room.” The kitchen setup is practical if you want to grab supplies from the local market (there’s a decent one about a 7-minute walk toward the Pile Gate), and the WiFi actually works consistently, which… well, you can’t take that for granted everywhere in this part of the world. Parking is the usual Dubrovnik challenge, but they’ll give you the real scoop on where to leave your car without getting a ticket or paying tourist prices. The location puts you close enough to walk into the old town without feeling like you’re trapped in the tourist bubble – you can duck back “home” when the cruise ship crowds get overwhelming, then head out again for dinner when things calm down. That 9.4 rating makes sense when you stay there; it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it delivers on the stuff that actually matters when you’re trying to experience Dubrovnik rather than just photograph it.

  We had a fantastic stay at this apartment in Dubrovnik! The hosts were excellent—kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. The apartment was spotless, comfortable, and perfectly located for exploring the city. One of our favorite features was the spacious terrace, where we enjoyed a glass of wine each evening while taking in the beautiful surroundings.

But the best part of our trip was the wonderful treatment from our hosts.
