The apartment itself sits on the first floor of this typical Croatian building, and you know what? The check-in was refreshingly straightforward. No pretentious lobby nonsense, just practical and clean.

Here’s the thing about this place – it’s not trying to be something it’s not. The 4-star rating feels about right, maybe even generous on some details, but the 7.3 score makes sense when you factor in the value. The apartment (and yes, it’s more apartment than hotel room) has this lived-in quality that I actually prefer to sterile hotel boxes. The kitchen is small but functional – I made coffee there every morning and even managed a simple pasta dinner one night using ingredients from the Konzum market just down the street. The bathroom could use some updating, I mean, the tiles are definitely from another decade, but everything works fine and the water pressure is decent.

What really won me over was the little balcony overlooking the residential street. Sounds boring, but there’s something genuinely relaxing about watching Croatian daily life unfold below – kids heading to school, neighbors chatting, the occasional delivery truck struggling with the narrow streets. It’s quiet at night too, which is gold in a place like Dubrovnik where tourist areas can get rowdy until late. The WiFi worked well enough for my needs, though it got a bit sluggish during peak evening hours when I assume everyone was uploading their sunset photos.

Look, if you’re expecting luxury amenities or Instagram-perfect interiors, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a clean, comfortable base that feels somewhat authentic and won’t demolish your budget during high season, Apartment Scents of Dubrovnik delivers. The owners clearly care about the place – there are thoughtful touches like local guidebooks and decent coffee in the kitchen. Plus, being in Lapad means you’re living more like a temporary resident than a tourist, which honestly made my whole Dubrovnik experience feel less rushed and more real.
