Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Apartment Sofia” on Lopudska Street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots are exactly what you need, especially in Dubrovnik where every second building seems to be charging tourist prices for “authentic Croatian experience.”
The thing about Lopudska 3 is that it’s tucked away just enough to feel like you’re actually staying where locals live, but you’re still within walking distance of everything that matters. I mean, you can literally hear the morning bustle from Stradun (that’s the main pedestrian street through Old Town) without being right in the thick of tourist chaos. The apartment itself has that lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake – think solid wooden furniture that’s actually been cared for, not that generic hotel stuff. The kitchen’s properly equipped too, which matters more than you’d think when you realize eating out for every meal in Dubrovnik will cost you a small fortune. There’s something really satisfying about picking up fresh produce from the morning market near Gundulic Square and actually being able to cook it.
What really won me over was the little details that show someone actually gives a damn about this place. The Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes (miracle in itself), the shower has proper water pressure – honestly, you’d be surprised how many places in the old part of town struggle with that – and the beds are comfortable enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept on a medieval torture device. The host clearly knows their stuff about the area too. They’ll tell you things like which bakery opens earliest (crucial intel if you’re trying to beat the cruise ship crowds to the city walls) and that the best gelato is actually down a random side street, not at those obvious tourist spots.
During the summer months, yeah, it gets warm – but then again, everywhere does in Dubrovnik when it’s 35 degrees and the stone streets are radiating heat like an oven. At least here you’ve got decent aircon and you’re not paying premium prices for a tiny room overlooking a dumpster. The neighborhood gets quiet after the day-trippers head back to their ships, which is when Dubrovnik actually shows its personality. You’ll hear locals chatting on their terraces, maybe some traditional music drifting from a family gathering – it’s the kind of authentic atmosphere that those fancy hotels in the tourist zone just can’t replicate. Sure, you might hear some early morning delivery trucks, but that’s just city life, and it beats the sound of tour groups gathering at 7 AM outside your window.

Great communication from host and very easy public transportation and uber to the city! Pomegranates growing on the trees along your walk to the water, stunning view! Apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. Very well equipped kitchen. Loved staying a bit out of the touristy center and even got to experience a local street fair right down the street. Peaceful neighborhood.
