Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of Dubrovnik apartments over the years, and Apartment Vedrana honestly surprised me in the best way. When I first walked into this one-bedroom place in Ploce, I was expecting the usual cramped setup – you know how these “sea view” apartments can be pretty disappointing. But stepping onto that balcony? Actually worth it. The view stretches across the Adriatic, and you can see the old town walls in the distance without being right in the middle of all that tourist chaos.

The thing about staying in Ploce is that most visitors have no idea this neighborhood exists. It’s about a 15-minute walk to Pile Gate (the main entrance everyone uses), but here’s what’s great – you’re away from the cruise ship crowds that descend on the old town every morning around 9 AM. I mean, you’ll still hear some traffic from the main road, but it’s nothing compared to staying right in the thick of things. The apartment itself is pretty straightforward – clean, functional, nothing fancy but everything works. The bedroom gets good morning light, and honestly, the kitchen has better equipment than some four-star hotels I’ve tried. There’s this little grocery store called Studenac just down the street where you can grab basics without paying old town prices.

What really sold me on this place was the balcony situation in the evenings. You know what I love? Sitting out there around sunset with a bottle of local wine (try the Plavac Mali if you can find it) and watching the ferry boats head out to the islands. The sea breeze actually keeps things cool even in August – something you don’t get in those stone apartments inside the walls. Parking was easier than I expected too, though I’d still recommend asking Vedrana about spots when you book. She’s pretty responsive and knows the area well. The whole check-in process was smooth, none of that “meet me at some random café” nonsense you sometimes get with private apartments. Only minor complaint? The Wi-Fi gets a bit sketchy during peak hours, but honestly, you’re in Dubrovnik – maybe that’s not the worst thing. For the price point and that view, it’s a solid choice if you want to experience the city without feeling like you’re camping out in a museum.
