You know what struck me first about Apartment Vent? The name doesn’t really prepare you for what you’re walking into. I mean, it sounds a bit clinical, but this place is actually tucked into this gorgeous old building on Župska street in Ploče – and honestly, the location is kind of genius if you know Dubrovnik at all.

Here’s the thing about staying in Ploče instead of right in Old Town: you’re literally a ten-minute walk from all the Stradun madness, but when you come back at night, it’s actually quiet enough to sleep. The apartment itself has this wonderful mix of old Croatian architecture – think thick stone walls that keep things cool even in July – with modern touches that actually work. The bathroom renovation is recent enough that the shower pressure doesn’t make you want to cry, and there’s proper air conditioning, which trust me, you’ll appreciate during summer months. What I really loved was how the windows open onto this little slice of neighborhood life; you can hear the morning coffee rituals from the café down the street, but it’s not the tourist chaos you get closer to Pile Gate.

The hosts clearly know their stuff – check-in was smooth, and they left these thoughtful little touches like local coffee and actual recommendations for restaurants that aren’t just tourist traps. I’m talking about places like Konoba Dubrava, which you’d never find without insider knowledge. The apartment sleeps four comfortably, and the kitchen is actually functional if you want to grab groceries from the market near the cathedral (parking there is easier than you’d think, by the way). Storage space is generous too – I know that sounds boring, but when you’re traveling with more than a backpack, it matters. The Wi-Fi is solid, the neighborhood feels safe for evening walks, and you’re close enough to the Lapad peninsula that you can easily explore some of the less crowded beaches. That 9.4 rating isn’t just numbers – it reflects how this place gets the details right without trying too hard to impress you.

    The patio area was very gererous for an apartment.

    What could be improved: The patio could have done with a rain proof covering, we would have loved to sit there watching the storm.

    A beautiful location, lovely apartment clean and with everything you needed and a shop downstairs to get your essentials, great location , only 2 minutes to the beach, 10 minutes to the rocks to swim from and 10 minutes from the old town, the hosts went above and beyond helping us out when we had any questions or problems, Would highly recommend

    The location of the apartment is only 10 minute walk outside old town with no stairs to climb (which was great considering Dubrovnik is all stairs) the walk had breath taking views, and there is a gorgeous beach only 2 minute walk away. There is also a small grocery shop directly below the apartment which was very convenient for us.
    The apartment itself was very clean and spacious with comfortable beds and a beautiful balcony. Our hosts were also very kind and attentive to any questions we had.

    What could be improved: Only downside was the noise from the construction across the road but we understood that’s not in the host’s control.

    Good location; only a 10 minute walk to old town. Great view and lively balcony to enjoy morning coffee with a fresh, warm croissant from the shop below.

    I chose this apartment based on 3 things: 1-location, 2-space and 3-view.

    1-The location of this apartment is superb! It is just a few minutes up the hill outside of the old town walls. I was worried about the commute and the few stairs I read about (literally just an easy few) as my elderly parents were with us but it ended up being even closer and better than I expected. It is also located on-top of a small grocery store where we got fresh bread each morning. Please note, stores are closed on Sunday The beach is also just minutes away and restaurants galore within step.
    2-We usually went back to the apartment to rest before heading out for dinner, or ordering it in. We were very comfortable and appreciative of the space we had for the 5 of us to eat, watch shows and hang out on the spacious terrace, which also had lots of seating. Having 2 bathrooms/showers was also awesome to have and the kitchen was equipped for what we needed to make breakfast. The bedroom were also spacious and comfortable but having more pillows is a suggestion.
    3-The view is what ultimately sold me when I chose this accommodation so I have to say that I was a bit disappointed when I realized that the view of the old town (as shown in the pics) is blocked by the Hotel Excelsior but it did still have a very beautiful view of some of the old town but most importantly, the gorgeous sea and island. We spent every morning on it with coffee and evening with a glass of wine. Please see picture below.

    We were warmly greeted and given a tour plus a tutorial on restaurants, attractions, etc. A shuttle is also provided. In all honesty, if we go back to Dubrovnik, we would try to stay here again.

    Amazing location, amazing hosts- our host told our group where was good to eat, what was the best activities to do, public transport available if we wanted to go out of the town etc. They will also book a taxi back and forth to the airport if needed. The apartment is fully equipped and has huge balcony overlooking the sea.
