Look, I’ll be straight with you about Apartments and Rooms Maritimo – this place punches way above its weight class. When I first walked up to 28 Sustjepanska obala, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot, but honestly? Sometimes the star system doesn’t tell the whole story. The building sits right along the waterfront, and I mean RIGHT there – you can practically smell the salt air from your window. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the Old Town walls, which sounds far but actually works in your favor because you’re away from the cruise ship chaos while still being close enough to duck back for a quick shower between sightseeing sessions.

What really got me was how the owners – and I think they’re locals who’ve been doing this for years – they just get what travelers actually need. The rooms aren’t fancy, but they’re clean and functional in that European way where everything has its place. The kitchenettes are properly equipped (not just a mini-fridge and a prayer), which is clutch when you’re buying those amazing tomatoes and cheese from the morning market near Pile Gate. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building, parking is sorted if you’re driving (and trust me, you’ll want that confirmed before you arrive in Dubrovnik), and the whole place has this quiet, residential vibe that lets you sleep through the night. I mean, you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling past your door at 2 AM like you would closer to Stradun.

Here’s what I think makes this place special though – it’s got that 9.3 rating for a reason, and it’s not just the location. The staff knows the area inside and out, like they’ll tell you which bus to take to Lokrum Island or where to grab dinner that won’t cost you a kidney. During summer months it fills up fast because word gets around, but if you can snag a spot, you’re getting genuine value. The whole stretch of Sustjepanska obala is lined with these smaller accommodation spots, but Maritimo feels more… I don’t know, more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel. You’ll hear the gentle lapping of waves if you get a sea-facing room, and honestly, that’s worth the extra euros. The only minor thing is that Croatian summer heat can make the rooms a bit warm, but there’s usually a decent breeze off the water, and you’ll be out exploring most of the day anyway.

  The quite seaside location is beautiful and easy access to the centre by bus (20 minutes) or taxi (10 minutes).
  
  What could be improved: No many places close by for food if you don’t drive or want to travel.

  Warm welcome from the host who made a coffee for us, clean quiet spacious room with nice view of the river, bus stop in front, a short bus trip to next towns and main port for ferries and buses, nice restaurants nearby, lovely common areas (kitchen and laundry). Even a taxi/Uber driver living nearby!
  
  What could be improved: Nothing however for info, many stairs to get to the property so avoid heavy suitcases. You will also need cash for the bus so plan many coins, small notes.

  Marija was a wonderful caring host. Apartment was large and clean. No issues at all
  
  What could be improved: Only problem was finding the apartment. It was a little difficult even with gps. You need to park in area near water and climb steps. Perhaps Marija could explain this to those who book this very nice apartment.

  The bus stop is nearby. You can take buses 1A and 1B to the old town. The host is very kind and helpful. We left our luggage there. All good!
