Apartments Ante Overview

You know what surprised me most about Apartments Ante? The fact that it’s tucked away on Brgatska Street in Ploče – honestly, I’d never heard of this little neighborhood before booking, but it turned out to be one of those happy accidents that makes a trip memorable. The building itself is pretty unassuming from the outside, sort of that typical Croatian residential style, but step inside and you immediately get why this place has a 9.1 rating despite being a 3-star property.

The apartments are – and I mean this in the best way – exactly what you’d want if you were crashing at a well-organized Croatian friend’s place. Everything’s clean and functional without trying too hard to be fancy. The kitchenettes actually work (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. What really sold me was the balcony situation – most units have these small terraces where you can actually sit with your morning coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up. It’s maybe a 15-minute walk to the Old Town walls, which sounds far until you realize you’re avoiding all the cruise ship crowds that swarm the more central spots. Plus, there’s a decent grocery store literally around the corner on the main road, so you can grab supplies without the tourist markup.

The owner, Ante (obviously), seems to genuinely care about the place running smoothly. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no weird key pickup locations or confusing instructions. He actually gave me solid recommendations for restaurants that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps, including this little konoba about five minutes away that I never would’ve found otherwise. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in Dubrovnik, but there are spots along the street, and honestly, you won’t need a car much once you’re settled. The area gets pretty quiet at night, which was perfect after long days of sightseeing, though you might hear some local life during the day – nothing disruptive, just the sounds of people actually living their lives. If you’re the type who needs to be in the absolute center of everything, this might feel a bit removed, but for the money you save and the authentic neighborhood vibe you get, it’s totally worth that short walk into town.

Reviews of Apartments Ante

  • A friendly place with incredible views – Kristin from United States – 15 June 2025 (10/10)

The ambiance was incredible! I loved being perched above the city. It was a very unique place to stay. The hostess and her son were wonderful and made it so easy for me to get to the bus station the next day. I felt like I was getting a little taste of Croatian culture. The room was well-equipped and even had a small kitchen.

What could be improved: I had to climb 351 stairs with my luggage to get there! I did it (and am very proud of myself for doing so), but I can imagine that not everyone would be able to. It would be good to have this information in the beginning, along with options for people who need help with their luggage.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Apartment Ante. Host was super friendly, apartment was clean, well equipped and cozy. Location wa – Vinay from Germany – 18 May 2025 (9/10)

  • Comfortable room with amazing views. Would stay again. – Bradley from Australia – 4 April 2025 (9/10)

Fantastic couple of nights in this apartment. The shuttle from the airport stops directly down the hill near the stairs which is perfect. The walk up is a slog, achievable if you’ve got a backpack but if you’re carrying a suitcase you need reasonable fitness. Easy to access the old town and enjoy amazing views. Would stay again.

  • Great property with amazing views – just a bit challenging to get to! – Kate from United States – 21 October 2024 (9/10)

The views from the property were very beautiful. The apartment itself was well appointed, clean and welcoming.

What could be improved: Be prepared to hike a ton of steps between the property and old town. The climb is not for the faint of heart or for anyone who is not in good shape. On the flip side, it did provide a good workout!

  • Excellent apartment with a view of the old town. – Bryan from United States – 16 October 2024 (10/10)

Great apartment with a patio overlooking the old town. The view makes it an ideal place to share a bottle of wine. The hosts were very hospitable and arranged transportation from the airport.

  • Exceptional – Patrik from Switzerland – 11 October 2024 (10/10)

Amazing view from the balcony. Recently refurbished Studio with all the amenities. Very clean everything. And the beds are incredible – slept like an angel!

And I was greated by the lovely owner with some fresh homemade lemonade – very apreciated this token of welcome after having climbed the stairs with my heavy backpacks 😅

    Hvala!

  • Great property over looking the city – Doug2371 from United Kingdom – 6 October 2024 (9/10)

We were met at the property. The view over the Old Town was great. The host brought us a refreshing jug of home made juice which was very nice. Well furnished and great facilities.

What could be improved: It's not the properties fault, but it is on a steep hill out of town so be prepared to climb plenty of steps. Not suitable if you have mobility issues. Great apartment though

  • Great apartment but steep steps meant we had to use taxis at least three times a day. – Colin from United Kingdom – 11 September 2024 (8/10)

The apartment is lovely with great views over the old city. We cannot thank the hosts for their friendliness and help during our stay. The apartment had everything we needed and is kept to a very high standard.

What could be improved: The information provided by Booking.com on the website is totally misleading regarding the location of the apartment in relation to other facilities and areas. As an example, it states Banje Beach is 250 yards away, but be very careful as in the smallprint is the phrase, 'All distances are measured in straight lines. Actual travel distances may vary', which is true as this distance is down a series of very steep steps which take about 10 minutes to walk down. Nowhere does it say that this apartment is not suitable for anyone who has walking or mobility issues so someone can book this place but have trouble using it.
