Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Apartments Bobo? The address alone tells you everything – Svetog Josipa 21 puts you right in the heart of Old Town, which honestly means you’re about a three-minute walk from the Stradun (that’s the main marble street everyone talks about). I mean, location-wise, you really can’t do much better than this in Dubrovnik.

The apartments themselves are refreshingly honest about what they are – no pretense, just solid three-star accommodation that actually delivers on the basics really well. The owner, Bobo (yes, that’s his real name), clearly knows his stuff because everything just… works. The AC doesn’t sound like a jet engine, the WiFi actually reaches every corner of the room, and – this is huge in Old Town – the water pressure is decent. I’ve stayed in fancier places where you’d get a pathetic dribble from the shower, but here it’s perfectly adequate. The rooms have that clean, unfussy vibe with traditional stone walls that keep things cool even in July’s heat, though you’ll definitely want those shutters closed during the afternoon sun.

What I really appreciate is how Bobo gets the little details right. Check-in is flexible (crucial when you’re dealing with ferry schedules or late flights), and he’ll actually give you proper local tips – not just the touristy stuff, but where to grab coffee in the morning before the crowds hit, which konoba serves the best black risotto without charging tourist prices. The apartments face the quieter side streets, so you’re not dealing with the constant chatter of tour groups, but you can still hear the morning vendors setting up in the market, which honestly adds to the charm. Parking is… well, it’s Old Town, so forget about that – but Bobo will sort you out with directions to the nearest lot and actually walks you through the shuttle system.

The place has this lived-in authenticity that some of the slicker hotels lack. The stone steps are worn smooth, the wooden shutters have that weathered look that comes from actual Mediterranean sun, and your neighbors are likely to be a mix of locals and travelers who actually researched where to stay rather than just booking the first thing they found. It’s not Instagram-perfect, but it’s real Dubrovnik living. Plus, stepping out your door in the morning to grab pastries from the bakery on Prijeko Street – that’s the kind of experience you remember long after you’ve forgotten what thread count the sheets were.

  • You want to enjoy the Old Town staying in it, choose Apartments Bobo – Raul from United States – 2 May 2025 (10/10)

Location and quality of the apartment is wonderful… there is only few steps to climb, communication was great.

What could be improved: Nothing negative about it

  • Great short stay in Dubrovnik – Hajdi from Slovenia – 7 October 2024 (9/10)

Lovely place, very clean and tidy, the hosts are warm and really loveable. Great location, close to walking tour starting points or public transport (Pile Gate) but still secluded enough so you have peace and quiet in the night. It's also a reasonable walk to Banje beach. We stayed at the top floor apartment and you have a nice view of Dubrovnik's roofs from there.

What could be improved: We are moderately fit people and didn't have a problem with the stairs, but there are quite a few to get to the top floor for example. If you get out and come back multiple times in the day it gets a bit old. But it's really nothing scary unless you have limited mobility, I personally would stay here again if I'm in Dubrovnik.

  • relaxing little space to return too and close to restaurants and bars – Margaret from United Kingdom – 3 October 2024 (10/10)

  • Very good – Antonela from United States – 6 September 2024 (8/10)

    Excellent location. Clean.

What could be improved: The door to the shower was broken and it was very tinny itself.
The tenant did offer to come and fix it but it wasn’t convenient for us.
We would have appreciated having basic cooking supplies like oil, salt and sugar.

  • Exceptional – Elizabeth from Australia – 3 September 2024 (10/10)

The location allowed us to spend some time in the Old Town. That added to the experience.

What could be improved: I liked everything.

  • Great option – Katy from United Kingdom – 11 August 2024 (10/10)
