Beautiful light filled apartment close to the pile gate The apartment was lovely, large and light filled with everything you’d need (except a clothes washing machine). The air conditioning worked well and the shower was fabulous. We loved how the renovated elements worked in with the original building features.

Apartments Eleganca
I'll be honest – when I first walked up to Apartments Eleganca on Zlatarićeva Street, I almost missed it.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Apartments Eleganca on Zlatarićeva Street, I almost missed it. It’s tucked into the Old Town walls in this perfectly unassuming way, which actually turned out to be one of its biggest selling points. You know how most places in Dubrovnik’s historic center feel like they’re trying too hard to scream “medieval charm”? This place just… is charming, without making a big deal about it.
The thing about staying right on Zlatarićeva is that you’re literally steps from Stradun – I mean, you can hear the morning street cleaners doing their thing around 6 AM, but it’s more soothing than annoying, honestly. What I loved is that once you step inside, all that tourist buzz just melts away. The apartments themselves have this really nice mix of old stone walls (the real deal, not some fake treatment) and modern touches that actually work. The kitchenettes are properly equipped too – not just some sad mini-fridge situation. I made coffee there every morning and watched people heading to work from my window, which felt wonderfully normal in a city that can sometimes feel like a theme park.
Here’s what nobody tells you about staying in the Old Town: parking is basically impossible, but the staff at Eleganca actually helped coordinate with one of the lots just outside Pile Gate. Small thing, but it saved me about an hour of driving in circles. The 9.2 rating makes sense when you experience these little thoughtful touches – like how they left local honey and rakija as a welcome gift, or how the woman at reception (I think her name was Marija?) drew me a hand-sketched map showing which bakery opens earliest and where to find the best gelato away from the cruise ship crowds.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Dubrovnik rather than just visiting. You’re close enough to walk to the city walls in three minutes, but far enough from the main drag that you’re not dealing with tour groups marching past your door all day. I could slip out early morning or late evening when the light hits those limestone streets just right, and have the whole area pretty much to myself. There’s something magical about having morning coffee on your little balcony while the city wakes up around you – church bells mixing with the sound of shopkeepers rolling up their metal shutters, the smell of fresh bread drifting up from the bakery on the corner.
The only minor thing I’d mention is that the stone floors can get a bit chilly in the mornings, but they provide slippers and honestly, it’s part of the authentic experience. Plus, when it gets hot in the afternoon (and it will get hot), those thick walls keep everything beautifully cool. If you’re looking for a place that feels like a real slice of Dubrovnik life rather than a hotel experience, this is exactly what you want.

What Our Guests Say
Good location The location of the apartment was good, inside the Old Town, approachable. The host was good, cooperative.
What could be improved: The staircase was too steep and troublesome. There was no elevator.
Congratulations to the owners! The apartment was amazing
What could be improved: The arquitectura and the elegance!
Superb Met with keys. Carried luggage up the stairs
Comfortable apartment in very central and convenient location It is a big advantage to have an apartment in Dubrovnik, and this one was very comfortable. While we dined out in the evening, it was so good to have coffee, breakfast & lunch in the apartment & not have to compete with the many tourists who visit the old city during the day. The location is very convenient and the building is secure. The apartment was light and airy. It was fun to look down at the comings & goings on the Stradum. In early October, the city was busy but not completely over-run with people. With the windows closed & A/C on, we heard little or no noise from the street. It was very handy having a washing machine for clothes as well as a small dishwasher. Communication with Marco re arrival was very easy.
What could be improved: The coffee machine was a little temperamental (googled the manual to sort out a few issues). There was a minor leak in the shower recess (not a big problem).
Geat stay Very clean great location in the old town good facilities
