Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Apartments Imperijal Dubrovnik? The name makes it sound way fancier than it actually is – and honestly, that’s a good thing. I mean, when you’re staying on Nika Kulisica street (which, let’s be real, most tourists can’t even pronounce), you want something comfortable and genuine, not some stuffy “imperial” experience that costs twice as much.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Dubrovnik at all. You’re tucked away from the main tourist chaos – no cruise ship crowds stumbling past your window at 7 AM – but you can still walk to the Old Town without breaking a sweat. The street itself is quiet, lined with those typical Dalmatian stone houses that look like they’ve been there forever. There’s this little bakery about two blocks down where locals grab their morning coffee, and I swear the smell of fresh burek drifts up the street every morning around 8. The apartments themselves have that lived-in feel that’s way better than sterile hotel rooms. My unit had these thick stone walls that kept everything cool even during those brutal July afternoons when the sun just hammers the city. The kitchen was small but functional – perfect for storing those overpriced bottles of water you’ll inevitably buy, or for preparing a simple breakfast before heading out to explore. What really impressed me was how quiet it got at night; you’d never guess you’re in a city that sees millions of tourists every year.

The 9.1 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed there. It’s not trying to be something it’s not – just solid, comfortable apartments run by people who actually care about their guests. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward (no lengthy presentations about spa services you’ll never use), and when I had a question about local bus schedules, the staff knew exactly which route would get me to Lokrum Island without the tourist markup. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area – it’s Croatia, after all – but they’ll point you toward the best spots that won’t cost you a fortune. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to experience Dubrovnik without feeling like I’m living inside a postcard. It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax after a day of dodging selfie sticks in the old city, maybe grab some local wine and cheese, and feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than just passing through.

Reviews

  • Exceptional – Sofia from Sweden – 30 June 2025 (10/10)

The view was amazing and the host really helpful.

What could be improved: Lots of stairs which was okay for 4 Young girls. It was worth the view from the balcony.

  • Great location and apartment had everything we needed – David from United Kingdom – 15 June 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: It would've helped if the key code was provided for the apartment. When we arrived we weren't sure were to go and the telephone number didn't work for the host

  • Happy Traveler – Joanne from United Kingdom – 13 June 2025 (10/10)

I couldn't have asked for more!
A warm welcome and an immaculate apartment. I am an avid hill climber, and the location was perfect. This may not be for many as I counted 519 steps (shortest route from Pile Gate to the accommodation).

What could be improved: For me, as a solo traveller, I couldn't fault it.

  • Wonderful – Kimberley from United Kingdom – 9 June 2025 (9/10)

Very comfortable and clean. Beautiful view from the balcony. Great air conditioning

What could be improved: Quite a lot of steps involved

  • Superb – Murphy from Ireland – 3 June 2025 (9/10)

Stunning views, great welcome. Good size and well equiped.

What could be improved: Nice walk done to center but a struggle up the stairs on the way back

  • Exceptional – Denisa from Slovakia – 9 May 2025 (10/10)

We had a wonderful stay at the apartment, which was well-equipped with everything we needed. Our host was exceptionally kind and welcoming—our children were especially delighted by her. We cooked a couple of meals during our stay and found the kitchen fully equipped. The apartment is located cca a 15-minute walk from the Pile Gate; however, it's important to note that Dubrovnik has many stairs, so be prepared for a bit of a climb. The balcony offered a beautiful view, and we truly didn’t miss a thing.

What could be improved: A little bit small bathroom 🙂

  • Exceptional – Livings from United Kingdom – 26 April 2025 (10/10)

The landlady was very kind and informative about the local area.
    Nothing was too much trouble.
The language barrier was there but not a problem she had the answers.
If you go to the top of the stairs there are some great views.

    What could be improved: N,/A

  • Well worth the price! – Nadege from Malta – 20 April 2025 (9/10)

Spectacular views, kitchen was good to use with working stove had pots and pans given.

We were provided juice, fruits and candy by host which was good for breakfast.

    Spacious living area.

    Clean and modern.

    Beds were comfy as well

What could be improved: Bathroom was a bit small, and no shower gel provided.

We could hear our neighbours from the wall, but there were no issues at night.

A LOT of steps to get to so keep that in mind, but I say it's well worth the view and the price!

  • Beautiful Views, Spacious Apartment – Ct from United States – 3 April 2025 (10/10)

What a beautiful view from the lovely apartment balcony. It's just spectacular! We loved the large, comfortable apartment. It was fully equipped with all the kitchen utensils you need, as well as a refrigerator, microwave, stove top, and kettle. We appreciated having a washing machine in the bathroom as well.

The whole apartment was spotlessly clean.

When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the owner's mother. She had a lovely bowl of fresh fruits in the apartment forvus, as well as giving us a bottle of local wine. We communicated just fine with Google Translate.

    Would definitely stay here again.

What could be improved: Just be aware that Dubrovnik is a city of stairs. There is no way around that, either to get into the old walled city or to get to most accommodations.

  • Great stay with wonderful view – Helen from United Kingdom – 8 November 2024 (10/10)

The apartment was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The host communicated before arrival and gave us a very warm welcome. The sea and fort view from the apartment balcony was such a bonus. The location was great for sightseeing.

    What could be improved: Nothing
