Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Apartments Lomara? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet residential street — Ivana Mazuranica — where you can hear the locals going about their morning routines instead of tour groups trampling past your window at 7 AM. I mean, you’re still just a proper 10-minute walk from the old town walls, but it feels like you’ve stumbled into where Dubrovnik people actually live.

The building itself has that solid, unpretentious feel that’s honestly refreshing after seeing so many places trying too hard to be boutique-y. The apartments are spacious in a way that surprised me — like, you can actually unpack your suitcase and spread out, which is pretty rare in Dubrovnik where every square meter costs a fortune. The kitchenettes are properly equipped too, not just for show, and there’s something satisfying about picking up fresh figs from the little market on Široka street and actually being able to enjoy them at your own pace. The air conditioning works properly (crucial in those sweltering July afternoons), and honestly, the WiFi was better than what I had at some fancier places.

What really sets this place apart though is how the staff — well, they treat you like you’re staying at their family place, not like you’re tourist number 47 of the day. They’ll tell you which bakery opens earliest (it’s the one near Pile Gate, by the way), or that Thursday evenings the local wine bar down the street does this informal tasting thing that never makes it into guidebooks. The whole area comes alive differently in the evenings — you’ll hear kids playing in the courtyard next door, smell someone’s dinner cooking, maybe catch an old-timer playing accordion from his balcony. It’s that authentic slice of life that makes you feel less like you’re just passing through.

Sure, it’s not going to wow you with marble bathrooms or infinity pools, but that 9.2 rating makes perfect sense when you realize what you’re getting — a genuine base camp for exploring one of Europe’s most stunning cities without the tourist-trap markup or the constant hustle. The walk to the old town is actually pleasant, winding through these narrow streets where you’ll spot locals hanging laundry and tending tiny gardens squeezed between ancient stone walls. And when you come back after a long day of climbing those city walls or dealing with the crowds at the main square, there’s something deeply satisfying about retreating to this peaceful pocket where you can decompress like a human being instead of just another visitor.

The garden – just amazing! Hospitality of the host was great, even though I hadn't asked earlier about single bed-sheets my wish was met which I really appreciate. Great contact with the Host!

  • Alfred from Netherlands – 14 May 2025 (9/10)

We spent most of our time on the large terrace compared to visiting the old town! What a lovely setting! Nice to share the terrace with others.

What could be improved: limited plates in the kitchenette which was tiny in any case.

  • Julia from Poland – 9 May 2025 (10/10)

Great apartment in good location, but the biggest plus was the absolutely beautiful terrace! (And owners’ dog ;))

  • Bruna from Portugal – 8 May 2025 (10/10)

    Everything!
The space is amazing, having a small kitchen and plenty of tables to eat or drink outside. The view is better than any other spot. The hospitality, the hosts are sooo friendly and they have the friendliest tiny dog, who is the star of the show. I could've moved there easily.

What could be improved: Nothing. Other reviews referred the stairs. It's Dubrovnik, if you wanna avoid stairs at all costs, maybe Dubrovnik is not the ideal place for you. The access to the house is just a regular set of stairs. Had no issues with ants, the hot water worked fine.

  • Kazuhiro from Netherlands – 7 May 2025 (9/10)

Good location to the Old City, not far to the entrance of Walking Trail of Mt.Srd. There are supermarket and bakery nearby.

What could be improved: Incorrect instruction when check-in. The wrong enter code was sent by host.

  • Muireann from Ireland – 14 April 2025 (10/10)

The property was in a lovely quiet and private location overlooking the sea on a hight above the old town. The owners were welcoming and polite throughout my stay. The bed was really comfortable and I slept so well. The space was spotless and loved all the bonus toiletries etc. The terrace was a wonderful addition to enjoy breakfast or a evening drink. Would return again.
