You know what? I almost walked right past Apartments Mandy the first time I visited – it’s tucked away on Petra Svačića, which honestly is exactly where you want to be in Dubrovnik. This little street sits just outside the Old Town chaos but close enough that you can literally hear the morning bells from the cathedral. I mean, you’re maybe a seven-minute walk from Pile Gate, but without the tourist madness right outside your door.

The thing about Mandy’s place (and yes, there actually is a Mandy – she checked me in personally) is that it feels like staying in someone’s carefully curated home rather than a typical apartment rental. The building itself is one of those solid Croatian structures with thick walls that actually keep the summer heat out, which… trust me, you’ll appreciate in July. What really got me was the attention to small details – proper blackout curtains that actually work, a kitchen stocked with decent coffee (not those tiny packets), and honestly the best shower pressure I’ve had in Croatia. The apartments aren’t huge, but they’re smart about space, with built-in storage that doesn’t feel cramped and windows positioned to catch the morning light without the afternoon glare.

Location-wise, you’re in this sweet spot where locals actually live and work. There’s a small market just down the street where you can grab fresh produce without the Old Town markup, and the bus stop for Lapad beaches is literally around the corner – something most visitors don’t realize until they’re schlepping through crowds with beach gear. Parking can be tricky (it’s Dubrovnik, after all), but Mandy knows the neighborhood tricks and will point you toward the residential spots where you won’t get towed. The area gets quiet after dinner, which is perfect if you’re not looking to party every night, but you can still hear the distant hum of the Old Town when you want to feel connected to the action. I actually loved falling asleep to the sound of people heading home from late dinners – it’s that perfect urban lullaby. The 9-star rating makes total sense when you consider that this isn’t trying to be a luxury hotel; it’s just really, really good at being exactly what it is.

  The view was incredible, worth the steps up to the apartment. Good location for the beach, the supermarket and the restaurants. The apartment was well equipped with crockery, cooking utensils etc. The bed was comfortable and the shower was lovely and powerful. We booked a private car to get us from and to the airport which was well worth it.

  Great location. Lovely apartment, sea view from balcony.
  Good choice of places to eat out. Close to the Old Town Dubrovnik by bus, 15min.

  Easy communication with the owners. Very helpful and friendly.
  On arrival, we had a bottle of wine, waters, and beer waiting for us in the fridge 😀

  Beautiful view over the sea and mountains, comfortable bed, hot water, welcome drinks was a very kind gesture.
  We came with a car and had the ease of a garage and key to open it as and when needed.
  Great location to get down to the restaurants/bars and beach.
  Owners very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us.
