The building itself is one of those solid Croatian structures with thick walls that actually keep the summer heat out, which… trust me, you’ll appreciate in July. What really got me was the attention to small details – proper blackout curtains that actually work, a kitchen stocked with decent coffee (not those tiny packets), and honestly the best shower pressure I’ve had in Croatia. The apartments aren’t huge, but they’re smart about space, with built-in storage that doesn’t feel cramped and windows positioned to catch the morning light without the afternoon glare.

Location-wise, you’re in this sweet spot where locals actually live and work. There’s a small market just down the street where you can grab fresh produce without the Old Town markup, and the bus stop for Lapad beaches is literally around the corner – something most visitors don’t realize until they’re schlepping through crowds with beach gear. Parking can be tricky (it’s Dubrovnik, after all), but Mandy knows the neighborhood tricks and will point you toward the residential spots where you won’t get towed. The area gets quiet after dinner, which is perfect if you’re not looking to party every night, but you can still hear the distant hum of the Old Town when you want to feel connected to the action. I actually loved falling asleep to the sound of people heading home from late dinners – it’s that perfect urban lullaby. The 9-star rating makes total sense when you consider that this isn’t trying to be a luxury hotel; it’s just really, really good at being exactly what it is.
